Do you guys remember Nitrome games back from the flash era?
(They still exist, just not popular any more)

2:16 AM
Yes
Also: For Silicon Valley I now have two alternative 10-module solutions to COWS, but still no 9-module one :/

Sorry...I might post a bunch of random stuff tonight:
but... Hamumu Games.
I loved those games
(I'm making a google doc of stuff I want to remember, so I'm finding tons of old stuff that I used to love)

scale of the universe

2:34 AM
And I can't use Martin's trick for the one it looks like it's applicable to :/

the world record is 31
that's crazy low for a WR

is that the best possible or the best acheived? we could probably do better if we cooperated
i accidentally didn't save the replay and also the replay looks weird, like mojibake

3:44 AM
I was able to get 5 points by getting to the point where it starts giving you 4x1 tiles, and stacking them up on the sides to fill in a bunch of area. The gap I left was 4 tiles wide for a while, and that was a good idea

do you have a replay?

as soon as I made the gap in the middle 3 tiles wide, it was able to ruin me

it says the game is deterministic

yeah if you click show a replay and then cancel it gets overwritten
it... it doesn't work?

3:48 AM
You're right. It works when I paste what I copied from the page, but not when I paste what I copied from the channel
it's just an adversary version of tetris; it might even be making a game tree and minmaxing. 31 might be the theoretical best score

it doesn't seem to be the theoretical best?

based on what?
I mean, what basis do you have for thinking the record score isn't the best possible?

> the latest high score replay of 31 lines
the fact they qualify it as the latest and call it a replay would imply it was done by an actual person, and isn't known to be optimal
actually here:
> Twitter user @chromeyhex edges out the previous record with 31:
> etc.

That doesn't mean he didn't use a program... of course, the tree is pretty large, probably similar to chess. You'd have to have some basis for pruning, and then you wouldn't be able to prove optimality without a lot of work
anyway, I'm not interested enough to write it myself

probably not the theoretical best. it's possible that it was generated, but i don't know
I got a t piece which apparently is rare

1 hour later…
5:24 AM
@DestructibleLemon back, sorry. Yeah, that was the post I was referring
