Now about 20 hours into our 4-player playthrough of Divinity: Original Sin 2. So far, I'm impressed. The world is very fleshed out, the characters and interaction is neat, and the multiplayer aspect works really smoothly. A little indecisive on the plot so far, as it seems kinda ambiguous or fuzzy, but that could be because we're spread apart doing stuff individually and then reporting back.
The combat mechanics are a little different from DOS 1, but I think it's a change for the better. You get fewer action points per turn, and physical/magical armors can block some status effects, so combat tends to be longer and actually meaningful rather than just burning down the enemies in like one turn.

@AdmBorkBork I've been playing a single player of it, and I'm on the island, and I have no idea how I'm supposed to level up. There are two remaining mobs that I've found that I can't beat (Frogs and a blood-sucking dude).
I'm only playing with a party of two, so that may be part of it

It definitely seems balanced for a party of four.
Did you talk to the people in the cave?

yeah, and I know about one of the escape routes
but I don't really want to start on that unless I'm higher level

There are at least three routes, four if you're combat-heavy

yeah. I don't think my route is combat heavy
its more sneaking around

Well, if nothing else, you can learn about the other routes and that will get you XP

3:50 PM
true.
@AdmBorkBork also, I'm curious: when I was on the boat, I chose to try and save that last person (which is where you die). Does that choice actually affect anything later on?

Nothing I've seen so far.
I think it's just RP

hm.
I do like the RP of it all

Yeah, there's a lot of extra "fluff" compared to other RPGs I've played.

4:20 PM
PoE had a ton of RP-only choices (which then sometimes had some bearing on the ending monologue that narrates what happened to everyone after the main story).

So far Beam NG drive is super fun
