@Wipqozn What feels like an easy solution to the problem is admit more fucking doctors ffs
To be a doctor of any kind you need some stupid high grades
Like in the Quebec system, that scores you in relation to the class average, you could have perfect notes in every class except 1 or 2 and still not get in

I mean I want our doctors to be highly qualified. I think the main issue is working conditions and pay.

Like at 34-35 you are high AF. Straight As territory. Average medecine admitted student? 36.7
Hell in my course, where in the first session 25% students dropped it and the class average was 50, but i hit 80-85 most courses, I hit a Cote R of 33.
With a 33 if I was in the general course I could have maybe got into medecine a U Laval, where the lowest admitted was a 33.
But yeah there is the working conditions. But there is also the fact that the college of doctors just loves to keep it a small community
Doctors can be paid a fuckton because they are scarce. In a hospital you lose a doc, that seat will probably go unfilled for years. So you pay the big bucks because you dont want the dude to leave

Let's not leave out the ideal that Dr. Fauci has given the medical community in terms of salary.

Judge fines Trump $9,000 for violating gag order nine times theguardian.com/us-news/live/2024/apr/30/…
If he does it again, jail him

@Fredy31 A big issue here is that many doctors only want to live and practice in areas that serve only half the population: Halifax, Sydney, and a few towns in between. The entire south shore, eastern shore, most of the northwest, and almost the entirety of Cape Breton is seen as undesirable locations to start a practice.

Trump comparing the campus protests to Jan 6
The scary part is I'm sure he actually believes this

@Wipqozn Thing is, it's actually a tacit confirmation that he supports the students. He thinks that Jan 6th was a fair democratic act that was unjustly punished, so him stating he thinks the students need to be punished in the same way could be read as him claiming the protests are a fair act

2:33 PM
@Nzall Well they always try to compare Jan6 to other events to say 'its not that bad, its exactly the same!'
Big differences here are that the campus encampments are peaceful, afaik do not harrass or pose danger to people who live/work closeby or in the place in particular, and its not trying to block a policial event

@MBraedley I'm so sad he's going to be our next PM.
I don't like Trudeau, but PP scares me.
Also, for those unfamiliar with Canadian procedure, he was removed for refusing to withdraw the comment per request from the speaker. MPs being asked to reword or withdraw comments is a normal occurrence. You only get removed if you refuse to retract it, which PP did.
Singh has also been removed when he called another MP racist, and refused to retract it. Can't remember the whole story behind that one though.
So despite how PP will try to spin this, he wasn't being singled out.
