ow, back from 4 hours of marshalling a palestine event that ended up being a march and my legs hurt, 4.52 miles patrolling the park and a 1 mile march route that was mostly on the sidewalk
except for one little bit where the sidewalk was closed which was very funny
no major incidents which is always good

I'm not familiar enough with the US legal and political systems to actually know.
but any law congress passes could just eventually be shot down by SCOTUS again, and SCOTUS appointments are for life, so they can't just replace them?

So, the question as it ends up at SCOTUS is basically "is legislation restricting abortion constitutional, and to what degree"
The federal government could preempt that by passing laws that set bounds on how restrictive state-level abortion laws can be, as they've already done for some other things
At which point the question is not "is this law constutional according to the supreme court" but "does this law violate this other, existing federal law" which is a lot easier to answer at lower levels of the court
