@Unionhawk RULES DISCOVERY: apparently on a cloture an absent is effectively a no (I guess the rules probably say something like "colture requires 60 members of the Senate to vote in the affirmative", rather than "3/5 of votes")

4:18 AM
lol

8 hours later…
12:35 PM
Not sure if the New Zealand Herald is considered a good news source, but nzherald.co.nz/world/news/… some news from Belgium that got worldwide publicity

12:45 PM
@Nzall I commend her bravery and selflessness.

1 hour later…
2:13 PM
WTAF?
Apparently HOAs are foreclosing on people because COVID-19 forces them to WFH
which is not allowed in their agreement

2:27 PM
That's a pretty loose reading of that clause, and is definitely not being used for its intended purpose, which is preventing someone from running a business out of their home. Moreover, HOA can't (or at least shouldn't be able to) police what takes place inside your home unless it's disruptive to neighbours.

@Nzall If this is true, they should sue the HOA into the fucking ground

@Wipqozn Well, before that, file for an injunction.

@MBraedley nah, fuck'em
If the HOA did this they're complete fucking garbage and deserve to be punished

that's also not generally what a commercial activities clause means

@Wipqozn But without the injunction you still loose your home before the suit can be resolved (probably through settlement).

2:32 PM
it's more focused on you running a business and having customers coming into the neighborhood and stuff

I can't find this on legal advice, so I'm assuming it's fake.

Also maybe get a restraining order because I dunno what kind of "observing" is going on to determine someone is working from home but it seems pretty creepy

So I'm pretty confident this is fake
Like I have no problem believing people are this shitty in the world, but I think this one is fake.,

Eh, I've seen similar from landlords, but that's a different dynamic

There's a note from the mods saying the OP provided sufficient proof that it was real for them to not delete it

2:35 PM
@TimStone I misread that haha

he was just trying to raise rent mid-lease not rally votes against himself as hoa president

> Modnote: We checked with OP for proof, and he's shown us satisfactory enough evidence that they're telling the truth. Please do not report post.

@Nzall yeah, @TimStone just said that
JEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZ NZALL I'M SORRY I MISREAD IT GAAAAWWWWDDDDD
(note: that's sarcasm. I know you have trouble detecting that(

@Wipqozn sorry, missed that Tim had already confirmed it

I mean every story on reddit is fake
to be fair

2:38 PM
@Unionhawk Is that a meme, or do you have proof for that?

@Unionhawk tbh as soon as I saw "it's on reddit legaladvice" I thought "It's probably fake"

even and especially the real ones

@Nzall I mean it's a meme, but the amount of BS stuff that pops up on advice subs iis high.

@Wipqozn And how about AskReddit?

@Nzall I don't know, I don't keep logs of this stuff. Just that a lot of fake stuff is posted to reddit advice subs. Folks love to be trolling.

@TimStone I'm honestly surprised. He always finds a new low to sink to.

@TimStone Look, here's the deal, that's not something that a single payer system can fix though
/joe-voice

2:53 PM
lmao
some LA landlord apparently sent everyone an email saying "hey rent is still due, the moratorium only delays eviction"
they uh, didn't use the bcc line though
every tenant, across MULTIPLE BUILDINGS, is now in contact
aka the hard part is already done at this point lol

@Unionhawk I seriously hope they unionize and stirke or something. Awesome.

one building organizing is a lot, but reasonably doable
EVERY building?
well I guess it depends, one of the big landlords here has like, 800 buildings I think
all in slightly different corporations which seems odd
also it's just 100 buildings
but still that's a lot

2 hours later…
4:54 PM
@Unionhawk taps head you don't have the federal minimum number employees for certain requirements if you actually just have fifty different companies

I mean idk it's just different ownership companies
It's definitely nonsense, but I think it might be property tax nonsense
I doubt they have that many people on staff

Guess that depends on the size of the buildings? But that would be likely too

And there's probably a holding company as well

Turns out one of the tenants is just goats so it qualifies as a farm

There's just several anomalies on the auditor's website
like, last sale price $0?
come on
grabbed a random listing oh interesting well it looks like 1 of the companies leases to commercial tenants in particular so I guess that one checks out
I wonder if we can easily segment this by land use code
filter out anything other than like, 401 apartment 9-19 units, 402 apartment 20-39 units, etc
that way we know that hey this one is 500 - vacant residential land, don't really need to track it

5:41 PM
From the UN:
> And when we get past this crisis, we will face a choice – go back to the world we knew before or deal decisively with those issues that make us all unnecessarily vulnerable to this and future crises. Everything we do during and after this crisis must be with a strong focus on building more equal and inclusive societies that are more resilient in the face of pandemics, climate change, and the many other challenges we face.

9:55 PM
Bored at home because of the continuing pandemic? Why not War on Drugs II?
Wait Elon's big move to procure ventilators was to buy CPAP machines, a thing that's definitely not a ventilator? Amazing
Urgh wtf? CloudFlare got their DoH service audited and it was good then turned around and launched a "family DNS" that filters some sites and you already know where this is going, sigh

10:17 PM
@TimStone Fuck Cloudflare
White nationalist sites are and what not are A-OKAY though. Wow.

11:10 PM
Trump: "Mexican violence?"
Reporter: "No, I said *domestic* violence"
oof

@Jolenealaska totally agree. last week i think Trump was saying that the US Economy wasn't mean to be shut down, maybe after this various economies might want to look into being able to do it. along with better WFH Solutions and procedures for lock downs

11:44 PM
@Wipqozn i think said parents don't believe their children need support beyond being taught the "proper" way of life because they are generally also against the idea of even awareness of LGBT+
