@TimStone Hurray! Wait, no...that's not good news...
00:11
Airlines lure Canadians to buy tickets for flights that will never take off cbc.ca/news/business/airlines-cancellations-tickets-1.5792386
Airlines are traaaash
Our consumer protection laws around airlines need serious improvement
00:26
> "I encourage the airlines to repay passengers if they can. At the same time, some of those airlines are in deep difficulty in terms of their own ability to continue to function if they were having to provide refunds to all of the customers."
So in other words, this guy supports airlines keeping themselves afloat by stealing money from customers
@SaintWacko Yes. Real fine fellow.

What do presidents usually do during lame duck period? Push forward their policy plans/proposals?
Or are they distracted by reelection failure, and therefore don't work as hard as before?
Same questions for his cabinet.
executive branch
01:28
> Joe Biden should not wrongfully claim the office of the President. I could make that claim also. Legal proceedings are just now beginning!
You've already (wrongfully) made that claim
Also, did twitter just give up on flagging his posts as misinformation?
@Wipqozn I mean technically nothing in that quote is wrong or misleading - the official results are not out yet, the media's calls have no legal power
So if he doesn't want to concede it's just another in a disappointingly long list of norm breaking behavior
@PrivatePansy Fair!
it seems that the companies that were so good at stomping trump a few days ago forgot how to do it
01:46
I'm surprised we haven't really heard anything from Biden today.
Then again remaining silent just makes Trump's deranged tweets and ranting look all the worse.
Well, and normally a candidate would do a big thing after the other one concedes, so his campaign is probably trying to figure out what to do when the other candidate refuses to concede
Maybe they'll just build a second white house for Biden, that way they never need to kick out Trump. Just avoid the awkwardness.

1 hour later…
03:22
Amazing
03:52
@Wipqozn sorry about the miscommunication
Damn internet doesn't communicate intent.
@TimStone THREE hours!!! now that's dramatic effect
over 9,000 hours later...
lol
The trump generation.
or in her case a trumpet
@TimStone even Mitch Mcconnell didn't delay that long i think yesterday or the day before
WH Attorney: we are not letting staff speak because they may violate the Hatch Act
Reporter: isnt the Hatch Act the one about using the public office for personal gain like what Trump has been doing with his business since being elected? just how are they going to violate the act by speaking about the legal drama Trump has started about the election?
WH Attorney: ummm, well you see.......*takes out dinner napkin with Sharpie Bleed Through* Blame everything on illegal votes and walk off

*after an awkward silence the Attorney walks away*

2 hours later…
07:21
@TimStone What the flying... ?? Really?
Jeez
07:39
@Nzall That one really does deserve a screenshot:
I wonder if the tail was bent by the train. It looks like it.

@Jolenealaska Is Google's 50% the latest info on Alaska senate race?
NC senate race jumped from 94% to 98% yesterday. Does it mean Cummingham is over?
On the two GA senate runoffs, some pundits said they expected many Purdue-Warnock votes. Interestingly why?
Is it because Ossoff is a young white man?
13:04
U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito issues a temporary order requiring Pennsylvania officials to segregate ballots that arrived after Election Day t.co/gdKknzGGPX
> Valid question Trump's legal team is asking:

How many people who requested and mailed in ballots near or on Election Day also showed up at the polls on Election Day and cast ballots in Philly, Milwaukee, Detroit, Atlanta and Vegas? https://twitter.com/paulsperry_/status/1324776540035534848?s=19
This is literally the exact thing Trump encouraged his voters who used mail in ballots to do
It also wouldn't work
From Paul Sperry, who Trump retweeted. I'm not quite sure who he is, but he's obviously corrupt.
Holy crap the American right sure are hard at work at trying to steal this election holy crap. Trump's Wall is just retweets of this.

Tim
13:33
are votes counted on Sat and Sun?
@Wipqozn Would be awesome if the only peiple who did that were the ones he asked to do so.
> Oh, we indeed found some attempted fraud, we're going to exclude their votes now. Seems they all voted for you, though, tough luck.
13:52
@Tim Yes
@NapoleonWilson Rekt
It's still so dumb that I can't report tweets for election interference because I'm not in the US.
@NapoleonWilson your vote is anonymous though, right? Or will they just see that someone sent a mail-in ballot and signed the voting roll document and call that a double vote?
14:43
@Nzall i think it's only who you voted is anonymous but who had voted is matched to an electoral role so that way you are voting for your country/state
when i go to Vote in Australia, there's a couple of people who are marking off names. and also it's know when we havn't voted even with a mail in because my first local council election the post lost my ballot and i got a fine for not voting
i suspect something similar in the US atleast
(though if not, wow, Australia is starting to look like paradise. better voting systems, public health care, green energy batteries)
@Memor-X did you manage to get that fine tossed out? Like, it's not your fault the post lost your ballot, right?
@Nzall oh yeh. my uncle wrote an Affidavit indicating he was witness to me having filled it out and mailed it because i asked him where i was supposed to post it (wasn't sure if there was a special drop off point for ballots)
@Memor-X TIL voting is legally required in Australia?
@Wipqozn only if you register yourself to vote
It's required in Belgium as well, at least for federal elections
14:53
once your registered you have to vote everytime. if you don't want to then you have to never register to vote
@Nzall does Belgium have other elections beyond federal?
@Memor-X regional and local
???
There's like, a Four Seasons hotel in Philly, but…how would you make that mistake?
15:08
@TimStone His claims are getting more and more absurd I see.
> Lawyer’s Press Conference at Four Season’s Landscaping, Philadelphia. Enjoy!
So... Not a mistake?
I'm honestly curious to see what his lawyers are going to say. Also terrified.
it's going to be just bullshit, it doesn't look like they have anything so far that doesn't get them laughed out of court immediately
@MadScientist Oh absolutely
it probably won't even have entertainment value
It's wild how he honestly seems to think he can stroll into court and spew whatever bullshit he wants and it'll be accepted as fact.
Judges: show, us, the, evidence!
Lawyer: it's all over the place, you just have to look at it yourself
Judges: that, is, your, job. are we speaking slowly enough for you?
15:14
I understand why he thinks that, because it works with his supporters. But it won't work quite so well with a judge.
@Wipqozn but it's not actually Trump though but the lawyers he hires isn't it?
like where does he keep finding them?
@Memor-X Yeah, but they're spouting the bullshit he wants them to say.
@Memor-X Money is all it takes
@Wipqozn but there has to be some dignity to not blindly obey him with these lawsuits
like i see it will just ruin their reputation in the end
@Memor-X lol you vastly underestimate how scummy some lawyers are
@Memor-X I mean sure, but the flip side is they get a reputation for being willing to defend anyone. And also likely willing to bend and break whatever laws the client wants.
lol meanwhile he's going golfing
So she also did a whole bunch of retweeting of election conspiracy stuff around this time and I'm curious if she thought maybe that would fix the problem or if that was just a hobby
15:28
she probably told him that he can't just nuke California
I can only listen to John King talk about the votes on the election board so many times before they get some new damn data
@MadScientist I mean those votes have already been counted, so it wouldn't help. But he also doesn't seem to understand what "Stop the count" means...
@MadScientist or hurricanes
@MadScientist He can!
Ah, all caps "I WON THIS ELECTION, BY A LOT!" tweet from the car on the way to golfing, wonderful
15:45
This would be absolutely comical if he wasn't the President of the United States
@TimStone Also, that gardening shop is between an adult store and the local crematorium.
@TimStone "Don't involve us in this bullshit"
Oh good it's going to be Rudy, Lewandowski, and Pam Bodi
Real A-Team on the case
Sounds like a disaster
So if it's Rudy it'll 100% just be him rambling like a lunatic repeating what Trump said
America's Mayor
16:11
I wonder if he was able to get the ink stains off his hands
16:23
I hope Trump tweets something about Hillary's emails soon
I know it's bad for the country that Trump is losing real slowly like this instead of ripping off the band-aid, but man, knowing he's just slowly watching it slip away feels good
I CAN FINALLY STOP GLUEING MYSELF TO THE NEWS
AP has called the race, looks like
So Trump's going to leave the country now, right?
16:31
He can't leave. He won, by a lot.
Oh god, the tweets in the next few minutes are going to be gold
Fox refuses to call, saying they aren't "comfortable" doing so yet
Yet their Arizona call stands
Every time I hear someone say "The Son of Scranton" I just hear "The Hero of Canton"
@TimStone lol of course
Ahh, what an arc Drudge has come on
16:39
lol
That pic
Yes, lol
It's taking everything in me to not be the asshole who just posts that pic of Trump to Facebook as a little salt in the wounds.
Fox News has just called the race for Biden
With no new data, I wonder what suddenly made them sure
I suspect that they were just waiting for their decision desk and management to okay making the President have sad feelings
16:42
There's literally people cheering outside right now
yeah fox news keeps a very short leash on their reporters when it comes to pro-democrat or anti-gop news
Well folks, we barely got through this, sure glad we'll do absolutely nothing to prevent it from happening again but at least we have relief for the moment!
yeah I just assume Trump will run again in 4 years if he's not tossed in jail
Does this mean 2016 ends on Jan 20th?
Yeah everything is perfect in the world now
@fredley screams in Brexit
16:45
The world's never been perfect
DAMN IT STERNO I SAID IT WAS PERFECT NOW
Okay, fine.
You've got 2 months to get your shit together, world
> The press conference is delayed for some reason.
HAHAHAHAH fuck this is amazing. Perfect.
eyyyyyyy look it's a statement from the Trump campaign
It's exactly what you expect
Noted Biden media ally Fox News
@TimStone Honestly the first thing I thought
16:54
We're all winners today, except for the president's children, who he will never speak to again
@TimStone oh, is that how he's referring to his supporters now?
I think he legitimately joked he would not talk to his adult children again if they didn't deliver him the win
But also he doesn't joke
So
he also threatened to take away jobs from his supporters if he dind't win either
BACK TO JAPAN THOSE JOBS WILL GO he declared
Just like any sane and rational person who totally cares about the people voting for him
I wonder if he'll even give a speech
I mean tweeting is everything now
17:06
How has Trump not tweeted yet? Did he throw his phone in a rage and break it?
He's probably too mad to take off his golf gloves
Or no one told him
Both extremely funny possibilities
I wouldn't want to be the one to tell him
I mean actually I would
but not if I worked for him
Especially if he had a golf club
Rudy is alleging Democratic voter fraud in uh
checks notes North Carolina?
A state Donald Trump will win?
Listen, if you can only find fraud 2 votes at a time, you gotta spread it out so it seems like it's an overwhelming thing.
Looks like Reddit is burning. Containers are loading but no content is being loaded.
17:10
"Ooops, this one was a Republican committing the fraud. Just erase the party affiliation part from the press release"
Fox has called Nevada for Biden as well now
@TimStone Just like when Trump claimed hillary rigged the election, yet lost
Well, sure. They're known Biden supporters
The most dedicated of his supporters, actually.
so i guess rudy is claiming he's got a whole bunch of poll watchers which were denied entry or something
which is pure BS
> The first poll watcher says he was told to stand 20 feet away. This appears to be the entirety of the legal complaint here. This is very thin.
lol it seems like reporters are just leaving mid conference
and most of them already left anyway
trump v gore let's go
@TimStone lol "He lost because he did a terrible job handling a national crisis. It isn't fair! *
@TimStone the problem is that ~3 months is forever in a pandemic, Biden might simply be too late to do much good
Hmmmm
@TimStone he definitely did and joe biden is probably the only guy who could have made this situation not a complete blowout
17:31
@MadScientist True
@TimStone How did Trump get on Drudge's bad side?
Not having power?
I thought Drudge was a Trump fan boy
@EddieKal I think the lying about the pandemic didn't help
Since, you know, the whole people dying thing meant Republicans were dying too and it seemed kind of dumb not to try and avoid that
Two-faced rats like Ted Cruz and Kevin McCarthy should jump ship too.
17:43
the guardian what in the fuck is this
@Unionhawk Gates Foundation? Why am I not surprised.
That image itself is exploitation.
18:05
Noted ally of the Democrats Fox News
@SaintWacko Yeah we were talking about it earlier. Trump himself has still been too busy golfing to actually say anything himself.
@murgatroid99 The most liberal of news stations.
@EddieKal I think I've read tweets from Cruz very early already where he said "you gotta count them all", which is basically a soft denouncement.
18:20
@NapoleonWilson I dunno. That sounds like a demand for Arizona to count votes until the count is in favor of Trump. Two days ago Cruz went on Fox News basically echoing the Trump rhetoric: "Rampant fraud." "We need transparency."
@Tim Yep. Half the state voted by mail. Those ballots aren't even opened until the 10th.
@SaintWacko This is the US of A. We've got can openers. If we have to use one, I'll spring for popcorn.
The NYT has called it. When did that happen?
18:39
@SaintWacko "deceased" voters? Didn't the Simpsons do that? Like, I distinctly remember Lisa using the public records of Springfield voters and finding that a lot of dead people voted
Not sure when it was called
Good things happen when I sleep.
@Nzall Yes. It was when sideshow Bob ran for mayor.
@Jolenealaska Its a only been a few hours
19:02
> Donald Trump has lost the presidency. Americans have sent packing the man who made the lives of so many a hell for the past four years with constant chaos, unbridled vitriol and attacks on the foundations of democracy. There may be difficulty in the days ahead because of (gratuitous) court challenges and (baseless) claims of fraud. The rage he has induced in supporters and opponents alike will take time to dissipate. But for a moment, let us rejoice: Our democracy has survived.
@NapoleonWilson Sounds familiar to many SE mods ;-)
Tim
Tim
Will the executive branch continue to push their policy agendas (proposals/plans) during the lame duck period?
@Tim ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Outgoing presidents usually do
at least some
19:19
@TimStone tbh modern libertarianism is just racism and fascism with extra steps
Yeah but how are you going to still be talking about a police state and then give a shoutout to the cops, c'mon now
Doublethink is a process of indoctrination whereby the subject is expected to accept a clearly false statement as the truth, or to simultaneously accept two mutually contradictory beliefs as correct, often in contravention to one's own memories or sense of reality. Doublethink is related to, but differs from, hypocrisy. George Orwell invented the word doublethink (as part of the fictional language of Newspeak) in his 1949 dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four. In the novel, its origins within the citizenry is unclear; while it could be partly a product of Big Brother's formal brainwashing programs...
Lol is wikipedia.org one boxing not working now too? Chat is so terrible
Needed the www,because why not
19:35
🚨🚨
The President is done golfing
19:51
(tl;dr it's just seeing associations in tweets, but also now he's definitely going to nuke Twitter HQ)
Anyway it's incredibly funny that world leaders are all congratulating Biden before Trump has even conceded (assuming he ever technically does), just ultimate "we never liked you" energy
Well, a few congratulated Trump already, too. ;-)
@TimStone Sure they're not just hyped for tomorrow's Eagles game against the Redskins Football Team?
20:27
Lots of tears in the celebrations on the NBC live feed. They're contagious. I'm crying.
That is just glorious
20:48
@TimStone I was hoping it was an actual eagle
@TimStone More photos, he's got a death grip on that phone
aww
so sad
I look at that picture and I'm reminded of watching Cersei's walk of shame. Unreal. Empathy is an amazing thing.
I just had an enlightening 2 hour long conversation with a Trump voter. Apparently, a lot of Trump supporters were voting against Biden because of 3 reasons: 1) they judge Biden based on his 1993 racial views without considering he changed since then; 2) They only know Trump from his rhetoric and don't follow a lot of his actual policy; 3) Harris is FAAAAAAAR left (his words) and they're worried this is a ploy to get her as president
Like, the Trump supporter I talked to was surprised when I replied to his "we're respected again on the world stage, we're making peace and we stopped war" with how Trump's NATO attacks were severely damaging for American diplomacy, he betrayed Kurdish allies, risked WW3 by assassinating Soleimani.
21:43
Wait, what's this? Just checked Fox News and someone is talking about how hard it would be to actually pull of fraud like Trump claims
Looking forward to my hot date with John Oliver this Sunday
@Sterno Amazing
Your know you've fucked up as a GOP leader when even Fox News is against you.
I'm only surprised because when I checked last night they were mocking Biden's speech as "fake unity" and saying that he's claiming victory just like Trump did, and they should have cut him off like some networks cut off Trump
Which of course is totally false
Guess it just depends which host is on
Folks
The President is Online
22:00
Oh Jeez. He found the pseudoephedrine.
I mean normally Chuck Schumer would find a way to give students more debt by accident so I guess this is at least in the right direction
@TimStone sounds cool but i'd need to see particulars
like is this going to be pell grants if you run a business for 10 years in an impoverished area kinda thing
22:30
$50k total, not $50k per student. One guy named Jim gets 30% of his school debt forgiven. Done!
22:41
So are both Georgia Senate seats still predicted as undecided until a second round in January?
...and what outside money rules apply between now and the run-off?? This could get insane.
yeah, I'm actually wondering if there's any way I could help the Democrats for that run-off as a Belgian
Like, I feel like the best way is to just stay out of it to reduce the risk of accusations of foreign nationals interfering in elections
That's the best I've found so far.
Biden is now outside of the automatic recount margin for PA with a 0.56% lead
I'll say again loudly: Don't rule out Gross from Alaska
Strange things happen in this state.
And speaking as someone who held on to my mail-in ballot for a few weeks, Dr Gross aggressively campaigned by mail to mail-in voters while they still had their ballot.
22:58
@TimStone yeeeah what exclusions apply here such that I get $0 instead of 50% lol
Probably public not for profit and federal loans only or some shit?
@TimStone Oh my. All caps. He's quite upset.
23:18
@Wipqozn but now quiet for almost an hour and a half now
I really like the part where she asks the cops "I'm from Canada so I've never seen a gun before. Are those real guns?"
23:47
Oh reddit, never change
@Unionhawk I assume the latter at least since it'd be by way of EO
Which is unfortunate but unless someone decides to kick McConnell in the groin I doubt you can do much else
