@Unionhawk it's always interesting when they ask for MAC addresses... Shows they don't know what the hell they're talking about
Also, yikes that's not good

@Elva At least riseup made some changes such that they couldn't respond to a warrant or subpoena asking for this info if they wanted to

@Elva Won't China have to recognize the results?

I am not sure! :)
It is not mentioned anywhere so I imagine no?

@Elva Yeah, they've already started making excuses, but it's just a massive repudiation of the current situation

(this is district council elections, not law making or anything like that, still)

I honestly cannot believe that whatever the perceived threat was was sufficient to warrant this kind of outcome, like they should have just dropped the extradition bill to begin with and none of this would have happened

Hmmm, I took the numbers from boing boing but the source says:
> As it stands, the pro-democracy camp has gained control of at least 12 of the 18 district councils, winning 278 seats. The pro-Beijing camp has managed to secure just 42 seats so far.

@Frank doubt it. these are local elections, they might have some power but could be ignored by the federal government which elections are next year if i recall hearing right. that would be the time China will either rig the election or crush any democratic opposition
