12:05 AM
Of note, this appears to be what set off Senate Republicans' renewed push to hold a vote

12:29 AM
WATCH: Complete exchange complete between @SenJohnKennedy & Judge Brett #Kavanaugh on high school. Senator Kennedy asks: "Did you ever get in trouble? Were you more of John Boy Walton type or a Ferris Bueller type?" https://t.co/1BaM5LiDvI
(in retrospect, just awful, awful people)

12:47 AM
@TimStone nah they're not gonna vote until they have smeared all victims that come forward
@TimStone ugh jfk3 go away

Different Kennedy :P

wat
dynasties go in the sea

I mean assuming you're talking about Joe Kennedy III right?
John Kennedy is a Kennedy but not a Kennedy but also a jackass

@TimStone see this clarifies things

1:21 AM
I represent a woman with credible information regarding Judge Kavanaugh and Mark Judge. We will be demanding the opportunity to present testimony to the committee and will likewise be demanding that Judge and others be subpoenaed to testify. The nomination must be withdrawn.
Also says this person isn’t Ramirez.

@Yuuki i really wish this was someone other than avenatti

@GodEmperorDune Personality aside, hasn't he done rather well for Stormy Daniels?

@Yuuki he has, but it seems that success has gone to his head and he is diversifying by jumping onto every center left bandwagon

He's followed up
My e-mail of moments ago with Mike Davis, Chief Counsel for Nominations for U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary. We demand that this process be thorough, open and fair, which is what the American public deserves. It must not be rushed and evidence/witnesses must not be hidden.
This seems to be a furtherance of the events mentioned in the New Yorker piece, though that story only related it directly to Judge, not Kavanaugh

i also worry specifically with avenatti that he gets out over his skis to steal the media spotlight, as he has previously with stormy daniels allegations that he walked back

1:34 AM
Indeed
Still, if a woman came to him wanting her story to be told, then I guess whatever avenue she's able to do that

true, but she'd probably be better served by going to a journalist
instead of a lawyer/media personality
Oh hottie avenatti

1:57 AM
@Yuuki ladies and gentlemen, the president of the United States

Trump White House drafting executive order targeting top tech companies: report http://hill.cm/NQ1IYLD
Investigator: well we found no problems with google, they are perfectly neutral
Trump: then how about all the bad things i see about me, how come the right does have a voice!?
Investigator: they do, just that unlike the left they don't do any Search Engine Optimization

3:28 AM
@GodEmperorDune He uh, he followed up with another question they should ask Kavanaugh and whew

@TimStone whew is an understatement
This is some liberal equivalent of qanon shit

@Memor-X wow it's really weird that the conservatives are fixated on this and it's definitely not indicative of some coming "for every search result you must include a promoted whitehouse.gov result"

@GodEmperorDune If that turns out to be decidedly relevant I demand that the curators stop the simulation immediately

W E I R D

We will have jumped both the rails and the shark at that point

3:32 AM
@TimStone I’m waiting for Louise mensch to jump in

Republicans tearing into Judge Kavanaugh’s latest accuser, noting that while the New Yorker quotes her as “not politically motivated,” she’s a registered Democrat who also “works toward human rights, social justice, and social change.”
"We certainly can't have human rights or social justice in our violent patriarchy!"
Thank god it's Friday tho

@Unionhawk lazy and free SEO
@TimStone it's monday for me. sunday for others

W E I R D for the people in power to claim that these extremely powerful companies are against them
how odd
I can't explain it
It's almost like they want to play this up like they're not fundamentally on the same side at the end of the day

@TimStone and this would be way some victims don't speak up

@Memor-X whoosh
@Memor-X almost as if that is working as designed

4:21 AM
@TimStone Lol social justice and human rights are a partisan issue now

4:41 AM
@Unionhawk tbh what's really weird is Ben Shapiro's Bernie Sanders voice, a thing everyone must reluctantly be aware of now that I am

7 hours later…
11:32 AM
@TimStone nope
The only shapiro clip I am familiar with is the one where he spends five minutes trying to analyze rap and because he doesn't understand he concludes not music because sure

@TimStone Seriously, wtf
I mean okay yeah, I suppose that's proof she's a politically motivated person, but if someone in favour of "human rights" is speaking out against your judge pick then uh, maybe you shouldn't pick them then?

11:46 AM
Like she's getting massive harassment for coming forward (including by the president!), and that includes death threats, so even if you don't believe her, the fact she's willing to go through all this to speak up against this guy should really make you have a "Are we the baddies?" moment about your judge.
Also I honestly don't see why anyone would ever lie about something like this to get the GOP or the president to not give someone power, because it's going exactly as you'd expect. The GOP or the president don't give a shit about sexual assault, the president has bragged about it on tape, he obviously hates woman and thinks they just exist for him to stick his dick in.
/rant

12:06 PM
@Wipqozn well Trump did pick Kavanaugh and you'd want like minded company

Wow it's almost like USER WAS BANNED BY CMs FOR THIS POST

RIP @Unionhawk

12:52 PM
@Unionhawk I can picture what you said and it was very clever commentary on events

not really
A mere dull observation

1:10 PM
About what we expected from you to be honest

1:21 PM
The real witty commentary was that understanding of my mortality tbh
because if you get banned from chat you die in real life

1:39 PM
Geraldo asks Trump about Puerto Rico statehood. Trump says he's a firm "no" because Puerto Rico has bad politicians: "With the mayor of San Juan as bad as she is...Puerto Rico shouldn't be talking about statehood until they get some people that really know what they're doing."
(he's on Geraldo's radio show)
But imagine your go-to defense being "their politicians don't support me"

@SaintWacko lol at "now" as if this is a remotely recent development

Holy hell they tried to push a "Ramirez is also linked to Soros because she got a fellowship" conspiracy but it, again, wasn't even the right person
throws a table

2:00 PM
@Unionhawk Hey now, that's supposed to be a secret

user15026
This is a distressing thread with military violence in it. But it's also good, heartbreaking journalism. https://twitter.com/BBCAfrica/status/1044186344153583616

user15026
Like she says, distressing thread, but the journalism and the investigation is very well done.

Off today so can’t write about Sirius buying Pandora. Luckily I wrote about it a year ago, when Sirius basically bought Pandora. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.recode.net/platform/amp/2017/6/9/15768446/pandora-sirius-streaming-music-strategy-deal

@TimStone Pandora's demographic is "people who are too lazy to go out and look for new music".
I am one of those people.

@Ash This is the kind of Journalism with a capital J we need, the kind of Reporting we need. Investigative reporting where government officials fail or try to hide stuff, and revealing things they don't want us to see

2:12 PM
@TimStone IIRC, Soros isn't even that involved in US politics (other than being a right-wing boogeyman). His financial contributions are mostly towards civil rights in Russia, right?

> He is a well-known supporter of American progressive and American liberal political causes and dispenses his donations through his foundation, the Open Society Foundations.
George Soros, Hon (, ; Hungarian: Soros György, pronounced [ˈʃoroʃ ˈɟørɟ]; born György Schwartz; August 12, 1930) is a Hungarian-American investor, business magnate, philanthropist, political activist and author. Soros is one of the world's most successful investors. As of February 2018, Soros had a net worth of $8 billion, after donating $18 billion to his philanthropic agency, Open Society Foundations.Born in Budapest, he survived Nazi Germany-occupied Hungary and emigrated to England in 1947. He attended the London School of Economics graduating with a bachelor's and eventually a master's degree...

Yeah, as with most people who have an absurd amount of money his name will turn up most places

@Nzall The Wikipedia page for his foundation says they gave roughly $33 million dollars to US causes.
As far as money in US politics goes, that's a pittance.
I've read that the lion's share of his work is in Central and Eastern Europe.

@Yuuki Yeah, but all of that money went directly to opposing the GOP: anti-Bush in 2004, pro-Obama in 2012, pro-Hillary in 2016

user15026
@Nzall agreed. Like it's a horrible story but the fact they stepped up like that is just good stuff

2:17 PM
@Nzall There are also plenty of wealthy individuals who donated far more to opposing the GOP in those years.

so yeah, it might have been a pittance, but it was directly aimed at getting the non-GOP candidate elected

The salient point is that Soros is also working in areas that Russia has always been interested in.
It seems like the GOP-Russia connection has been going on for awhile if they've been pushing against Soros as long as they have, given that there are far more "appropriate" wealthy political donors to target.

@Ash That remind me. I heard on CBC radio this morning that the Canadian military is reopening a lot of older reports of sexual harassment in the military that never got resolved and is looking into them again.
> Canada's military is reopening investigations into nearly two dozen cases of sexual assault after reviewing 179 old cases that had been closed as "unfounded."

> In each of those 23 files, investigators will conduct additional interviews, seek better documentation or use other investigative tools to review the cases.

> Senior military commanders decided to comb through the old cases after an internal review found that nearly a quarter of cases filed between 2010 and 2016 concluded with an "unfounded" label — a rate higher than the rate for cases investigated by civilian police forces.
I'm really confused by this sentence though:
> The release said the average unfounded rate has been declining; it dropped to eight per cent in 2016 from 17.6 per cent in 2010. The average unfounded rate for Canadian policing is about 19 per cent.
So is the unfounded rate 8% or 19%...?
Is this just referring to a specific area?
Still not sure, but there is this other article with some numbers
> Last year, 14 per cent of sexual assaults reported to police were given the "unfounded" classification, down from 19 per cent in 2016. The figure is double the seven per cent of unfounded cases identified among all criminal incidents in Canada last year.
Emphasis mine, since that's a pretty stark (but unsurprising) difference.
> Statistics Canada said more severe and violent sexual assaults were less likely to be deemed unfounded than incidents such as unwanted touching or other non-consensual sexual contact.
also this right here is a pretty great example of why the #Metoo movement is extremely important:
> Sexual assaults are among the least likely crimes to be reported to police, but last year 28,551 incidents were reported, with the biggest bumps seen in October, November and December as media stories focused on sexual abuse allegations against high-profile men, including film mogul Harvey Weinstein.

> "There has been a lot of attention to sexual assault, things like the '.MeToo' movement, the 'Time's Up' movement. We definitely feel that these might have had an impact on some of the reporting as well as police reviewing their files," said Warren Silver, an analyst with Statistics Canada.
It is great to see progress is finally being made on this stuff. Hopefully it keeps improving, because there's still a long way to go.
I mean it's literally just the start of improvement, so yeah, obviously there's a long way to go
so I think that earlier figure may have meant "8% of all crimes are unfounded, and 19% of sexual assault cases are unfounded", maybe? I don't know, confusing as heck sentence. Good job whoever edited that story.

user15026
2:38 PM
@Wipqozn 8 for military, 19 for policing I think

user15026
@Wipqozn 0h there is like miles and millions of miles to go before this even gets close to decent

user15026
Like I appreciate they are doing this but a) it's only the military looking at their cases and b) it doesn't change the pervasive societal attitudes towards women who report, among other garbage

Not very well confirmed right now, but still

user15026
Like oh she's ruining his liiiiife well fuck you he ruined hers first

(sorry, this pushes my buttons, I will retreat)

2:40 PM
I gotta go get groceries anyhow

@MadScientist I mean, I guess he's technically resigning.

A source close to Rosenstein disputes the Axios report that Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein has verbally resigned, @LauraAJarrett reports. The source says that Rosenstein expects he is being fired. Noel Francisco, the solicitor general, would take on oversight of the Mueller probe.
It seems he's on the way to the White House now, expecting to be fired

So what does this mean for that whole mass protest thing? IIRC, one of the conditions was Rosenstein being fired.

resigning would be a bad move for him as firing him is arguably another case of interfering with the investigation

@Yuuki lol

2:48 PM
Worth noting that Trump isn't even at the White House, afaik 🤷

@Unionhawk Yeah, I doubt it's going to happen, but I'm interested if anyone actually thought that.
"What if he resigns instead of being fired?"

@Yuuki MAN, THAT WOULD SUPER OWN THE LIBS IF HE DID THAT

Oh my goodness this is the worst news cycle
Him being fired versus him resigning really matters and both are being stated as truths

@TimStone It's 2018. Every news cycle is the worst news cycle.

@TimStone ooooooo apparently he was on with Dave Reuben and uh, hm
wow

3:07 PM
Yes

hm

@Ash I saw another story that RCMP too is reopening old cases too actually. Don't have it handy right now since I'm on mobile.

BREAKING: Investigators now looking at a second potential accuser in Montgomery County on SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh: https://mont.thesentinel.com/2018/09/24/supreme-court-nominee-kavanaugh-faces-more-allegations/
(Not Avenatti's client)

3:25 PM
There's plenty of legislation that would protect Mueller's investigation sitting in Congress. This is only a crisis for the rule of law if Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan abdicate their responsibilities and let it become one.
folks, the founder and editor-at-large of Vox dot com

@TimStone Trump doesn't fire people to their face, he delegates that stuff. So if he were to fire Rosenstein, it would not surprise me at all if he let Kelly do that

Okay, so I thought we were talking about Trump, not Rosenstein. My last message makes a lot less sense now

@TimStone almost as if when someone gratuitously ignores consent and gets away with it, it's not a one time thing
@MadScientist or he tweets it
i really hope NYT looks at their complicity in this and makes some changes, but i don't think they will. They will go "see our access journalism scoops were right, rosenstein is fired now" and ignore the part they played in it

@GodEmperorDune Sexual assault has the highest rate of recidivism, IIRC.

@GodEmperorDune The part I don't get (I mean, I get it, I guess) is that there doesn't seem to be a lot of dispute over the fact that at a minimum he was frequently drunk? And sure, teenagers or whatever, but like it kind of sounds like he went far beyond what's normal?

3:30 PM
@TimStone I put before the court that I have never been drunk.

"Hahah yes we did nominate a functioning alcoholic to the Supreme Court"

@TimStone right, and no one seems concerned about it

Let alone I-don't-remember-anything-I-did-last-night drunk.
@TimStone Going by what's come up, I think we should also question the "functioning" part.

like one of the major steps in AA is that you have to make amends for all the people you hurt while drunk and kavanaugh is not even there yet? even though it was 35 years ago?

no you see this calendar from 1982 says "definitely at home" that day
the evidence is all there

3:33 PM
Breaking- John Bolton: Iran is responsible for attacks in Syria and Lebanon, including the downing of the Russian plane
Still very confused on this! 🤔

The odds for iran first look strong!

"The Syrians shot down a Russian plane in the wrong place because the Israelis made it go there"
" ...Iran"

@Ash holy shit, wow, it's an awful thing but so interesting to see their process behind the investigation

Keep an eye on FL governor though, that could be a factor in not iran first
somehow

@Unionhawk "see i told you being anti BDS would keep us out of war with iran"

3:35 PM

Because it's a really good question considering the level of authority the governor of florida has

@TimStone is all NHL this weird?

that is, state-wide, commands a small militia but I think can't send them out of the country

Am told by a WH source that Trump is currently on a call with Kelly, who is at the WH while POTUS is in New York.
lol this is so bad

how soon until there is a gofundme for rosenstein?
goddammit NYT

3:39 PM
@GodEmperorDune 12 hours

@GodEmperorDune We still don't even know if he has a job, lol
So probably already
But also wait for it to just be FAKE NEWS MEDIDA
@GodEmperorDune I don't even know

i could not make up a better mascot for the @NHLFlyers if i designed it myself welcome to the nhl, @GrittyNHL

It's like if Trump was the damn Babadook
> "Why aren't liberals fun anymore?"
lol absolutely not today satan (The Hill)
Pete Williams is now suggesting that this meeting at the White House could be a clearing of the air and Rosenstein may keep his job.
tbh this seems entirely plausible it's just weird to outsiders because most people wouldn't require such coddling
NEWS: Amber Guyger, the Dallas police officer who murdered Botham Jean in his own home, has been fired. https://twitter.com/dallaspd/status/1044253217574596608
Fired...into a jail cell, or?

4:00 PM
@TimStone fired into another police department, where she was made chief

@Unionhawk Ahh disrespecting our Troops smh
Flash Forward: The Trade War was necessary, for them

@Unionhawk Oh, okay! Trump's just trying to strengthen the military!

Putin told Netanyahu that the actions taken by the Israeli air force had a central role in the tragedy of the Russian plane
Can't wait to pick a side in this match!
DAG Rosenstein is NOW attending a previously scheduled meeting at White House as the Deputy Attorney General, says a person familiar. It is a principal meeting. Report that he resigned is not correct, the person says.
lmao
It is worth noting by the way that he did literally have a meeting scheduled, at the White House, I guess he just went early for that little heart to heart?
At which he might have reasonably expected he could be fired but it's looking now like he wasn't!
Top Dem on House Intel Rep. Adam Schiff on MSNBC just now: This looks to me like a slow moving "Saturday night massacre."
I'm so glad that we all got out there to decry the thing that doesn't appear to be happening because that surely won't come back around to bite us

@TimStone ya, my boi

4:13 PM
Yeah, it's good to take a stand he probably should have just like...made sure it actually happened first, lol
But tbh Congress should still have protected the investigation a long time ago so 🤷

4:28 PM
@TimStone I mean, it's almost blindingly obvious by now why they haven't.

@TimStone rekt

White House on Rosenstein:

@TimStone gotta draw out the rose ceremony

Sure glad nothing else is going on on Thursday that...ah

@TimStone In 2018, I have no sense of time. What's going on on Thursday?

4:53 PM
Ford and Kavanaugh testify

"The proceeds from this GoFundMe will be given to Mr. Rosenstein as a token of appreciation from the loving American Citizens who support all the work he has done in overseeing the Investigation that will undoubtedly lead to the impeachment of Donald Trump." This is boring now.
lol

@TimStone goddammit

Anyway, so it sounds like Rosenstein offered to resign like a week ago which is probably necessary even if you don't want to quit because Trump likes capitulation

@TimStone GoFundMe? More like GoThrowMeIntoTheSea.

5:02 PM
Germany looking to sell costly, rarely used drone to Canada https://trib.al/2AwnmD1
For whatever reason it's funny to me that Germany's just like "Hey Canada, want a drone? Great price, barely used!"

I didn't realize drones were that big.
In my mind they are thin so they can stay up for a long time - which I guess doesn't really jive with a reality where they are responsible for carrying and launching heavy missiles.

@TimStone rarely used does mean we never used it at all in this case

Maybe surveillance drones are smaller.

@puzzlepiece87 That high up, I don't think weight/size is that much of an issue.
Then again, air is a lot thinner up there and I'm not too familiar with aerodynamics.

@Yuuki i think weight/fuel is always a thing because physics

5:10 PM
The thing that interests me about that drone is how much it just looks like a standard plane with no cockpit window.

@puzzlepiece87 Yeah, I always get a bit surprised when I see a shot with good size reference
Like a reminder that "Oh yeah they're actually huge"

Aerodynamics, sure, but I wonder if future drones will have some weird designs because they don't have to concern themselves with enough space for humans.

tbf this is also true for fighter jets which seem like they're "small" planes but actually are very big compared to eg a Cessna

@Yuuki (jokingly taking you way too literally) I don't know what kind of planes you've been flying in...
@TimStone Yeah I would probably be shocked how big a fighter jet is also. In my head it's got enough space for Tom Cruise and Goose and wings, and that's basically it. And Tom Cruise is small.
I have an extra 'fml' for you if you've run out, @fredley

5:44 PM
@TimStone Reporter now pointing out he never said it was those police investigating 🤷
Gabe Sherman reports that the Rosenstein leak appears to have been a "smoke bomb" to knock Kavanaugh out of the news. “The strategy was to try and do something really big,” said a source familiar with Trump's thinking. https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2018/09/trump-wanted-to-nuke-rosenstein-to-save-kavanaughs-bacon?mbid=social_twitter
ahhhh this timeline

That bit of being extra careful about how we feel about the media is interesting to me.
@WildRootsStudio @NatashaBertrand additionally...Trump et al WANT us to turn on the MSM, it furthers their narrative about fake news and sows doubt. DON’T FALL FOR IT. https://t.co/CjMrgyC3RS
Because I already see hints of it here with regards to the NYT.
NYT isn't blameless of course because they're jumping on scoops with abandon.

JUST IN: Judge Brett Kavanaugh, in a new letter, writes, "These are smears, pure and simple. ... I will not be intimidated into withdrawing from this process." https://www.judiciary.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/2018-09-24%20Kavanaugh%20to%20Grassley%20-%20Kavanaugh%20Nomination.pdf
It's kind of incredible how much the letter reads like "I deserve this", and buddy, screw you
Also I know someone asked him about taking notes with a sharpie but anyone get him to explain why the hell he signs with one like Trump?
Man who claims he is a time traveller from the year 6491 'passes lie detector test' https://www.indy100.com/article/time-traveller-apextv-year-6491-pass-lie-detector-test-8384091
Okay can we finally do away with those things now then?

One thing I find kinda, not sure "interesting" is the right word, is that so many people have been defending Kavanaugh with "it happened when he was 17 years old, it's so long ago that it doesn't matter". So you're admitting that it did happen? Because, IIRC, Kavanaugh said it didn't happen in front of Congress. So you're now saying he perjured himself?

Yes, because they're very bad
Kavanaugh's story has always been "It never happened even remotely" but all his support has been like "mmm even if it did happen you know nbd"
Which is a pretty big tell 🤷

6:00 PM
@TimStone The same people who are now saying that Kavanaugh's alleged sex offense is no big deal were also the same people who are on the first row to smack talk people killed by the police

Like even leaving aside whether it's nbd (which it emphatically isn't because of a literal army of reasons), perjury alone should disqualify him from justice-ship.
And should probably also result in him getting disbarred.

for offenses that are even far lower on the acceptable crimes scale

@TimStone Why? They just proved a man is from the future!

@Yuuki laughs in senate majority

@TimStone I mean it proves that he thinks he's telling the truth, possibly, though that's probably complicated too

@TimStone That's been this whole administration
"Oh shit, the news is reporting on some bad stuff we did! Quick, release some juicier stuff that's not actually as bad!"

@TimStone As an adult I'd still be pretty uncomfortable in front of that many people

6:25 PM
@murgatroid99 I mean, I'm pretty uncomfortable even when there's no one in front of me.

7:14 PM
@TimStone hmmm, accused rapist is into what he wants and ignoring what everyone else wants... hmmmm
@SaintWacko it's trump's go to move tbh

@GodEmperorDune And the sad part is it still works

@SaintWacko the more they use it, the more people become numb to it
the danger there is that people become conditioned just assume all media is bullshit, which makes it extremely easy for people in power to do all kind of awful things
the hope there is that people start to realize what the tactic is and get upset with politicians that try it

I'm not familiar at all with Florida's local governmental structure, but that seems a bit weird.

@Yuuki depends on state/local rules iirc
probably not as weird as "flip a coin to determine winner"

@Unionhawk I think everyone knows this already, but for anyone who doesn't, polygraphs are extremely unreliable.

@puzzlepiece87 I personally think they're incredibly reliable.
In that they're reliably unreliable.

@puzzlepiece87 almost as bad as eyewitness testimony
and human memory
@Yuuki yeah i'm also not sure why they don't just take #2 from the primary

@GodEmperorDune That sounds a little too un-FPTP to be properly American. /s

In case anyone was wondering how much effort it would take to do entryism into a local party, don't bother it's a nightmare

If you didn't finish first, then a select few individuals that may or may not be part of the democratic process will decide your fate. That's the American way.

and I'm assuming the nonsense here is replicated pretty much everywhere

@puzzlepiece87 ok this is horrifying
nice ending though

@GodEmperorDune The actual game is enjoyable though imo

> Every week, the teenager would be brought fresh supplies of food, water and fuel by someone from his company who would come to collect the fish.
Jeez.

@puzzlepiece87 never played it

@GodEmperorDune Thank you for that
@Ash pretty much

And he'd basically live there, 77 miles off the coast, so his only human contact would be once every week?

@GodEmperorDune Now released on HD and with more to do on Steam, but core game is still free on Itch
@GodEmperorDune Basically you start on a 2x2 wooden raft, a ridiculous number of supplies drift by you, you have a throwable hook, and you go from there. Also, shark attacks.

@GodEmperorDune I've seen a stream on it. You're on 4 square meters of wood, you need to pick up flotsam and catch fish, fend off shark etc

7:43 PM
It's a survival game.

@puzzlepiece87 I saw that on Steam some time ago, I was definitely interested.
Multiplayer is also interesting.

It's got a nice rhythm to it, wouldn't play forever but would definitely play occasionally.
Plus from what I understand they made the shark less annoying in the full Steam version.

@puzzlepiece87 i'll have to check this out later

I'd need to find the mental fortitude to tear myself away from Monster Hunter: World to play this.

7:45 PM
Brace yourselves because I have one more piece of fun news and two more Google-China articles to post, here they come.

> It’s hard to know if Raft is intended to be a commentary on the polluted nature of our oceans, but goodness me, there’s a lot of flotsam on the waves.

@puzzlepiece87 snsnekt

@puzzlepiece87 I imagine having two heads in one body could lead one to hiss-teria.

(It's required from China's social currency laws, but now that an international company is doing it RIP the chances of that not being deployed everywhere the government asks for it)
This is more of an addition to the first article than something entirely new, but:

@puzzlepiece87 I mean, the entire reason Google left China to begin with was because the Chinese government demanded Google to share data. Of course now that they're planning on returning, they're going to aquiesce

@Nzall Oh, I'm not surprised. I'm just upset that they're going back.

@puzzlepiece87 It was inevitable, really.

All companies in China are required to do this stuff.

7:54 PM
Both China and India are massive growth markets for Western companies

@Nzall Yuppppp. Saying it again for the people in the back, the sole legal directive of American corporations is shareholder return.

@puzzlepiece87 except B corps

the GAFAMs would be crazy to not do whatever it takes to get a piece of the south-east Asia pie

@puzzlepiece87 This is an oversimplification

@puzzlepiece87 Ugh
