It seems to me that the "gentlemen's club" is a near perfect definition. If you watch "The Man Who Knew Infinity", you'll see this behavior from most of the English "gentlemen". Even Ramanujan's tutor wasn't minimally interested in getting to really know the thinking of the "filthy Indian". On the same ground, Gandhi was denied the Peace Nobel, what to me completely invalidates the Nobel forever (now we know who those "gentlemen" are).

Even Nietzsche denounced the majority of Western philosophers on that ground (gentlemen defending the Church), but as a genuine "gentlemen's club", most pretend they haven't heard it.
