I don't think you really understand what a 'pressure point' is @coi
@Coinbird
You don't apply pressure and expect a knockout. or the heart to stop.
You hit them like anything else on the body.
So the one on the leg. You press it briefly, sharply and they move the foot.
THEN you move to the leg takedown and lock the leg.
And MMA fighters sure they do just the same thing.
They don't call them pressure points (actually neither do we)
But a kick to the solar plexus is what we would call the use of Atemi Waza.
It hurts more and has a more debilitating effect then any other strike to the abdomen.
My favourite 'vital point' as we call it is on the arm. We call it 'chuen'.
This is used to assist in arm bars both as part of a takedown and as a restraint.
You could apply pressure to the joint of course. But as you are moving the joint quickly it helps to use the 'flinch' to push the arm.
It causes pain, yes but more importantly a 'flinch' in the direction you want to take your opponent.
Basically You are thinking of 'pressure points' as something mystical and unusual.
More correct is this way of explaining them. smbc-comics.com/comic/the-death-spot
Oh, and by the way... You have heard of the delayed death touch? Guess what It's a strike to the temple. Well known by martial artists everywhere. And doctors too. Why that spot? Because it is the easiest way to cause a cerebral compression.
That is why you will see doctors shine a torch in the eye of boxers after they fall in the ring.
They are checking for just that.

@HuwEvans "It hurts more and has a more debilitating effect then any other strike to the abdomen."
Liver shots are by the worst. But alright, so anywhere you get hit and it hurts a lot or debilitates the person is a pressure point? Sure, whatever. Seems like a broad definition, so why even call it anything.
@HuwEvans Nobody is aiming for the temple... the jaw is the KO spot.
@HuwEvans Before we go any further, I feel like your arguments and examples are extremely hypothetical. How many fights have you had? (amateur or professional). Are you pulling off these pressure point techniques in your fights? Because you would be the first.

I said they were looking for compression, Not for a KO from the temple. Sorry if that wasn't clear.
And yes, the jaw is a Kyusho too. (kyusho just translates to weak point)
In answer to your question, One. And it was not a competition fight, it was self defence. I used the chuen point and two wrist locks.
You have to bear in mind that the whole idea of pressure point has basically been mistranslated from japanese.
In any case the question we are talking about was about the martial art that I learn. So our interpretation of the word is the one we are looking for not anyone elses.
