Hi, welcome to IPS! this question is broad, and we can't help questions without a specific interpersonal goal in mind. Can you narrow down your question to help us help you? Check out how to write a good question for more help. I hope that information is helpful :) — ElizB 1 min ago

Hi Akangka :) I think a question along the lines "[...]what is the usual way on the internet to indicate[...]?" Is way too broad as a question for IPS. You should at least break it down to a specific frame, in that your goal can be achieved, as there could be many ways to answer this dependent on the situation. Sadly your example gives me no real Idea on what your frame might be either, as I don't really understand what its about and I couldn't really spot what part of it might be understood as sarcasm, which would require to be indicated as not being such. Maybe another example helps? — dhein 1 min ago

Yes, I live with her for a year now. We will probably get married. They've known her existence for a while, but they ignore it when I talk about it. They just switch the topics, or just plain act like they did not hear what I said. But, now that I asked that we meet, they started arguing. I say arguing, but it's more of a lecture on why I'm wrong. — anunhappyIndian 54 secs ago

I don't understand your question because usually, sarcasm is actually based on truth so being sarcastic is telling the hard truth. Then you should add a more universally understandable example, because I have no idea what you are referring to. — Sqaq 11 secs ago

Hey Akangka! Do you have an example where someone actually believed that you were sarcastic when you weren't? That would help answer your question. — Ælis 2 mins ago

@Ælis Can't we just assume the example OP wrote down here is a real-life one? It sounds believable and understandable enough to me. — Tinkeringbell ♦ 1 min ago

@Tinkeringbell I would agree to assume that, but some people still seem to feel like the question isn't good enough as it is. That is why I suggest this improvement (if this is indeed a real-life example, just saying that and maybe adding the other people reacting might be good enough for the close-voters). — Ælis 1 min ago

Hey @Akangka! I've given your question two edits now: One to clarify your example as being about an anime studio and an anime, and one to rephrase it in such a way that it sounds like it's an actual problem you encountered (your reply being misinterpreted as sarcasm). I hope that narrows down the question, makes the example understandable and the question good, but if I completly missed the mark on those edits, feel free to roll them back! — Tinkeringbell ♦ 23 secs ago

@PulseBeat_02 I suggest you change this very month. Successfully forcing someone to be your friend is mental/emotional rape - doing that is inviting justified ostracization and mental illness upon yourself. Your behavior isn't suitable for anyone who is healthy. Read a book on ethics, or on how to deal with lusts if you want to make this easier on yourself. Ideally you give the good things you have in excess to friends, and don't need or expect anything from them as the baseline. — Willem 57 secs ago

Since "what should I do" is a very broad question and not a great fit for IPS, I allowed myself to edit your post based on what I understood it is that you're actually trying to achieve. I agree, racist is exactly what it is. You cannot change their minds for them, and speaking from experience, choosing where you heart leads, over what they believe you should choose is the only way you will bring them around. One of them will eventually realise they may have been a bit hasty in placing a de facto insistance on indian-only partners and offer an olive branch. It will not be instant, and you have to make sure that you're ready for them not to speak to you again (unlikely, but possible). — bigbadmouse 20 secs ago

To me, it seems like the more important part of your method is giving a plausible explanation for expressed opinions, rather than using a different tone. I would assume someone usually wouldn't take the time to argue for something they're poking fun at. — Vaelus 55 secs ago

I know it's off-topic, but I read first paragraph of your post and I'm really lost on what you're set to achieve. Could you elaborate or point to a blog post explaining what you expect to get from such behavior? It sounds like implicit shaming men for identifying with their gender, which I don't see as OK. — d33tah 2 mins ago

the most important thing to learn is not to "get frustrated and send rude messages because of that." Women face a lot of this: men who ask them out and then call them names if they say no. Feeling frustrated and rejected is not a reason to send rude messages, so you should work on that. — Kate Gregory 50 secs ago

As far as proving it's him, we have this related question which might help? I'm not sure "what to talk about" is a great fit here since it's kind of an idea-generation question, but this is a pretty specific situation so we might be able to make it work :) Are you more interested in just establishing good relations, or do you have specific questions you want to ask in the conversation, or is this more about how to handle potentially upsetting news? — Em C ♦ 1 min ago
