@Tim Not sure if you are being sarcastic or not (Hard to read "tone" in text)... But... going out of the way for others, obviously, isn't the first answer for many. I've only seen a couple mentions of it here... Whether we are talking ounces... liters... gallon... or 55 gallon drums. The idea is simple: Do a little extra effort in the hopes of being neighborly and helping someone else out. I personally don't think a 1 Gallon Jug is too heavy to carry and I like being useful and helpful. If that's too much... or you can do more... the important thing is the gesture and idea. — WernerCD 58 secs ago

Many people also see comparing this to racism as offensive, I'd also put myself in that category and state "the fact" your position is offensive. The people taking this stance are saying the only reason that the OP can possibly hold his position is because he's being prejudicial. — Skyler 1 min ago

If Jane was an 80 year old single grandma would it be an issue? I know OP is asking within certain Pencian parameters what to do, but saying folks are out of bounds for questioning those parameters are wrong, IMO. I'm not saying that helping the OP would be immoral, but I'm saying there is a gray area here. Jess, @Mixxiphoid is right. The answer to "...wondering what I ever did to give the impression that I would ever put him in a compromising situation," is that just laying yourself open to false accusations is compromising, in a way. The missing phrase is, avoid even the appearance of impropriety. This is a great answer, by the way. — Wildcard 1 min ago

@EmC, true improvement will never be successfully accomplished through psychology's antiquated approach of evaluation (telling a person what to think about themselves), but that's rather beside the point. Regardless of any wrongdoing on her part, I can assure you that if you yourself were willing to be responsible for HER actions, too, and even for her annoyance at you, it simply wouldn't bother you at all. This is the test moment here, I've been through this many times . If she laughs or says ok and ask" where are we going? " say shhh, it's a secret" and laugh. That is when you know you've got her. I've been through this alot actually, it's can be hit or miss, but at least you will know, if she's really into you are not. Whether you agree with the OPs decisions or not is irrelevant to this question. Answers to this question should focus on the question at hand (how to convey the message) and should not debate whether the OP's decision to not visit his neighbor's home without his wife is correct or not. This is the best answer. There is no reason for the OP to kowtow to her or compromise. The OP should be direct and professional but firm and unyielding. "Do not touch my equipment, do you understand?". And when she says why she did it, the response is, "Regardless, do not touch my equipment, do you understand?" @newbieprogrammer I don't like the sound of that at all as it doesn't explicitly imply dating. Also while I appreciate it I'm not out for advice on how to flirt or get someone interested in me, just how I pop the question if she'd be interested in dating me or just continue as friends. Personally I'm thinking something as simple as 'would you be up for going on a date sometime?'. — BeeBop 30 secs ago

The OP says others have also found a problem with this person’s loud chewing, so perhaps not entirely a matter of the OP’s perception. — Spagirl 52 secs ago

@thesecretmaster You still around?

Yep. Did it break?

Not that I can tell. I wanted to ask about implementing a regex filter

Easy
What's the regex?

that would post a third message with the 'caught' reason

8:37 PM
Less easy, but still doable
I will try

Would it be possible to have a separate file with just the regex that the bot would use, that I could edit for testing?

Sure. I was thinking they could get stored in the DB.

Oh - and I'd consider it awesome if separate filters could apply to Qs and As

That ... doesn't sound hard.

like, you\Wshould on questions
Like, separately - different filters for questions and answers

8:39 PM
Is the filter being applied to the body of the question or the body of the comment?

The comment.

I will take a stab at it now and let you know how it goes.

Thanks! :D

Testing time!

!!/test q Well... you should try not to do that

!!/test q Well... you should ALWAYS do that

:/
export ChatXUsername='chat@bot.com' - What's with the 's there? Include those?

You can leave them out. They're important if you have spaces or some special chars
!!/test q Um, you should never ask questions like that

Matched regex(es) [/\byou\Wshould\b/]

@Mithrandir ^^

*applauds*

q = "question"
!!/test question You should always start comments with "You should"

Matched regex(es) [/\byou\Wshould\b/]

!!/test answer You should do the same on answers (this will fail)

And will that post as a third message after the comment and the data?
Also, I'm trying to run an instance...
/usr/bin/ruby: No such file or directory -- comment_bot.rb (LoadError)

8:58 PM
What's the output of ls?

comment_scan.rb Gemfile Gemfile.lock README.md

Did you run bundle?

Yes.

Ah, it's comment_scan.rb not comment_bot.rb
I will fix instructions

The way you've written it, it sounds like a massive pain to get monitors reconnected -- could you fix that at all? It's not really relevant to the question, but from personal experience, making it easy to dis/reconnect things makes dealing with issues so much easier, and it seems like it'd be worthwhile anyway. — Nic Hartley 1 min ago

If you don't want your parents to arbitrate, then don't put them in the middle. By leaving a gift for your parents to give to your sister you put your parents in the middle of this feud. If your sister leaves a gift for you with your parents, then pick the gift up at your earliest convenience and ship it back unopened to your sister with a note that you don't want gifts from her and you don't want you parents caught in the middle of this cat fight. — MaxW 33 secs ago

You appear to have the pre-database edition

good point

I believe that your error means you need to install sqlite, but I could be wrong. I'd have to see the full trace.

@Marcel it absolutely does imply seduction/illicit romance as the topic, but the focus is on MrDuk and his wife and their own rules, and it is not stated in a way that singles out Jane as a possible seducer. The rule could be there for any multitude of reasons, but the point is that they're not saying Jane is the problem. — Tim S. 1 min ago
