@dzaima Neat
In other news: I've discovered that Vampire is failing against Windmill in pretty much all scenarios. 32 / 33 (in dzaima's controller) have Windmill winning. Definitely something changed that I need to fix.
In the official controller (albeit my added options fork) Glider is in 3rd, but only due to a Random Zero that occurred early (it's exactly 14 points worth of score behind Windmill or Lightspeed, whichever is in first) which would equate to having scored a 0 instead of a 14 that one game.

heh, on a head-on collision with a squad of Highways workers, the queen got trough fine & unharmed, but the miners one by one started making fake shafts.. Fake shafts have been such a bad problem lately

heh, every time I find something that isn't supported but really should be I find in on a line marked // TODO :p

how about staggering the lefthand and righthand shafts (while keeping the stepping-stone paint markings exactly where they are now)? Thus righthand miners could explore the spaces the lefthand miners never see, and vice versa, sharing the same shaft walls.
And without any zigzagging needed.

@GNiklasch Right, I've thought about doing that. And now, thinking about it, it could solve my problems of miners backing up on the wrong side

(Preaching to the choir :) )

I do feel like that taking the gaps should be the last thing to do only when miners are overflowing.

Well, the idea is that one miner's shaft is another miner's gap -- no cell of the arena is predestined to be a gap cell with such a scheme. As long as food is found relatively close to the rail, it makes no difference (it just results in a shift in the 3/4-of-the-nearby-cells exploration pattern on one side). But miners crossing half the arena in search for food will compete less with those from the other side.
(Typing this whilst watching another occasion of the present SlM wrecking another 'mill... :) )

it seems like it's doing pretty fine so far, so I'm publishing SlM5 here for people to be terrified at. Instead of often 0s though it seems to be getting often 14s :p

yeah, a perfectly head-on collision with Monorail doesn't turn out fine. Think I've fixed it though
