Did you guys know that windows 10 allows running a Linux subsystem directly, without the overhead of a virtual machine? I just read it on microsoft's website, I guess it's finally worth upgrading from win7.

It's always worth upgrading from Windows 7

Using 7 is a major security risk

especially now it's out of support, and 10 is a free upgrade

as for WSL, it runs in a Hypervisor, it's essentially a different kind of virtual machine but lighter weight

Hyper-V itself can be used to run virtual machines, it's how docker on windows works, an instance of Alpine Linux is spun up in a Hyper-V instance and used as a container host

I wouldn't get into win 10 and its endless bugs unless there's a good reason to. I downgraded to win 7 after upgrading to 10

Anyway, just tried it and was super fast compared to a virtual machine

I run windows 10 on all my machines :o

No complaints really
