otherwise this is probably one of those situations where the design team decided this was a good idea, and got feedback saying it was a good idea
but lots of people disagree, and decided to complain everywhere except where the design team can see it
and when they do mention it where they can see it, they never actually say why, so it's easy to write off as just resistance to change
all it would have taken is a single slack message in a meeting pointing out a flaw or in a github issue and it would never have made it to the implementation stage nm release
