@jmalais there's nothing in a multisite that makes it intrinsically subdomain or subdirectory, you can mix and match them, and use arbitrary domains

my own site has tomjn.com and several other domains all on the same install, no multinetworks etc

just modify the URL of the site you're adding to what you want, no plugins necessary
