Q: A dynamic community promotion ad

brasofiloApple folks were so kind as to share the following dynamic ad: Number live as of NOW at WPSE, UTC 2013-11-24 at 1:33 Yes, just go to any Stack Exchange site, open a Question and paste the following as an Answer: [![Our currently active bounties][1]][2] [1]: http://stack-exchange-dynamic-...

Is there anything we can (or should) do about people who are blatantly using WPSE to outsource their client development work for free?
I don’t think so.
If it is a good question, it doesn’t matter.
There's one specific example I have in mind
And no: most of the questions are not good questions.
URL?
the recent questions aren’t that bad.
clear questions, shows his own code, proper tags
16:26
@toscho borderline that they're even on-topic, makes no effort to debug/figure out the problem, and requires major hand-holding to get to the problem. After 33 questions. See here, for example:
I'll get the right link eventually

Q: disable comments if array exists

AlecsHere is my code: ?php if( array_key_exists( 'comments', $wp_query->query_vars ) ){ the_field('comments_section'); } elseif( array_key_exists( 'stats', $wp_query->query_vars ) ) { the_field('stats_section'); } else { // the request is for the main post } ?> Is it possible the disable...

Some people learn slower than others. If you are losing your patience, stop answering.

@toscho there's learning slowly, and there's not making an effort to follow community conventions, after asking over 30 questions.
We had much worse askers.
There is no rule that says you have to improve. As long as the questions are okayish, we have to live with it.
@ChipBennett Hi
@its_me howdy
16:38
Howdy!
@ChipBennett Since you say I am wording the question wrongly, I'd like some advise on this. How do I ask questions where I do have a working code, but am not sure if I am doing it right? That'd be very, very helpful.
I have to ask the question to be sure I am not doing anything wrong. But am not sure how to frame such questions
@its_me that sort of question just isn't a good fit for WPSE: i.e. you have code that's working, but you're wondering if it's not the best way to accomplish something, or there might be (but isn't necessarily) anything wrong with the approach.
That sort of open-ended, seeking-opinion question would probably work well for WP-Hackers.
WPSE is more intended for, "Here's my goal, here's what I'm doing to accomplish it, and here's the problem I'm experiencing - how do I fix it?"
code review was considered but didn't really work out. there is dedicated stack for code review but not that you will get good wp-specific feedback there...
Ah... that's sad. Will keep it in mind next time I ask a question
@ChipBennett Thank you. :)
The thing is: I'm intrigued by the second of your two questions, and I think it makes a great question for WPSE. If 'offset' is no longer breaking pagination, that's news to me!
Yeah. I am making the edit to remove the first question
16:53
@its_me much :)
great 8-)
Question to mods: Would it be possible for you to remove the "possible dupe of..." thing on my question? I've edited my question to be more clear as to what I am after, and no, it's not a dupe (any longer).
@Rarst @toscho ↑
I don't see that on it?..
It is a comment and might help answering that question.
ah, comment
Sorry :P
16:59
@its_me I added an edit
@ChipBennett Yes, I see. I should've been more clear myself. :/ But, thanks!
@Rarst Yes, the comment, "This question may already have an answer here:"
Can't it be removed?
@toscho Please may think it's a dupe and not read the question at all
@its_me it was a valid comment at the time the comment was made, and helped ensure the question was edited/improved. There's no need to remove it.
hmm
17:39
@toscho Interesting idea. :) ^RR
See the conversation
good idea but people always f^%&ck up thier questions , so each question should allow for edits/follow-ups,
18:01
I like the fact that it seems that more and more sources are suffering from that "business model".
suffering is good. it will sooner or later swing opinions from "people have to eat" to "people have to it, but not at our expense"
I think it opens the market up, people that do a good job will beat those that don't, and the costs will reflect that
the wp ecosystem for pay services has a long way to go, lot of players are there simply becuase they were the first and not necessarily the best
I'm very sure that everyone who already has some serious amount of share in the "WooCommerce Market" can (again) fork it and set up some working self sustaining help forum of some kind. In the long run surely outplaying Woo itself.
18:21
that seems to have already started, with those 2 forks, but they seem sketchy
it takes a more professional effort
newest serious contender is probably iThemes Exchange, those guys are hardcore commercial and very old
wp avangers seems to offer support but an anonymous company, lame. The other one doesn't even have support (gplclub).
guess Marketpress/Inpsyde @toscho could pull that - both from size, quality and idea behind it + experience and existing market
they should just promote codeable.io more, seems like a decent service for woo users
never heard of that before
18:37
the devs are vetted ( I was in the beta) and generally good, the owners also put a lot of effort into it
woo promoted them on thier support page at first , not sure if they still do
