Q: Single Post Breadcrumb not linking back to Custom Post Type Index?

zoaCodeI am using a breadcrumb code that will not place a link on two custom single post pages linking back to two custom post type index pages. The full Breadcrumb code can be seen here: http://pastebin.com/xNwXxWv6 $type = get_post_type($post->ID); if( $type == 'Portfolio') { echo '<a hr...

What to do? The guy clearly has primitive if no PHP knowledge whatsoever
given the answer to his question he would have no idea what to do without handholding
Simply have to love the new "review" UI.
@Rarst @toscho Simply start deleting the bad answers bit by bit until you're at the point where the whole question is obsolete.
01:19
Everyone needs to go check out the new review section.

Is there any downside into using template parts to load pages. Like if you have a profile page that has alot of features..is it better just to keep them all on one page or do I lose nothing by breaking them into template parts?
04:12
@PolluxKhafra access to the file system is always slower than reading it from memory. Very small template parts can be put into specialized functions.

07:36
@toscho stupid question but does it matter how big the functions.php gets?
Only for maintainability.
ahh ok thx
07:53
… eurgh! Do we really need a tag for each wp function?

@TomJNowell Please say "thanks" to sancho :)
@toscho Yes. Could you please go and set them up?
@kaiser I'm sure @sanchotehfat will be glad to hear it, may I ask what in particular has earned him the honour?
@TomJNowell I just got the notification from GitHub, that he added me without restrictions to WP_Less.

Q: What is the correct term for someone who works on/with WordPress?

siobhanI'm trying to figure out what the best way to describe someone who works with/on WordPress. Some people use WordPresser but that seems a little bit clunky for me. It's easy to say WordPress developer, designer, etc but if you wanted to talk about how to talk about lots of people who work on WordP...

13:24
"He was the best Wordpressitarianistician of them all"
14:15
> "He was the best Doorer of them all".
@TomJNowell :)
@kaiser and boy did he door
@TomJNowell you didn't believe how door this was
@kaiser sounds like an open shut case
@TomJNowell oh my! door you!
14:54
lol at comment. doorman. owned :)
15:38
ring ring
today i had a phone call with some server/IT specialists. Their company has to provide a dedicated server for wordpress hosting and they kept asking the whole past week what the requirements are ( feels like they never done webhosting before ) and today the 'chief of technical chaos" asked me: "So, what do you need to install this 'Wordplace'"...
Word 2000
Windows 98
when I was moving hosting in the past I got asked by support on topic of migration "is your wordpress blog hosted at blogger?"
in hindsight I should have stopped and run away right there...
I remember vaguely a “WordPress Hosting Service” disabling base64_encode() because … uhm … dangerous code.
page.ly? owner got on soapbox about evil PHP functions and how he is going to ban them all and got a lot of flak for it
15:51
Ah, yes, that was it. Poor customers.
> Stop the base64_ shit. You are a douchebag if you don’t.
@Rarst Oh, I see you were quite engaged over there. :)
yes, it managed to briefly go over by bullshit tolerance threshold
Search Unleashed doesn’t play well with my plugins. Too bad.
Relevanssi had issues with W3 Total Cache.
I guess I have to write everything for myself.
Was playing with the idea of a denormalized extra table for search. That would solve the problem of case-insensitive exact search too.
16:21
I had to build search from scratch at work... with table and everything... very custom requirements
> Please enter a value greater than or equal to NaN.
- jQuery validate plugin
@Rarst One table to rule them all. Binary, lowercase, all taxons, all published posts, all authors in one big table.
Should be blazing fast.
So Stack Overflow user http://stackoverflow.com/users/558021/lix reached 10k reputation yesterday, and look what his girlfriend made him: https://i.sstatic.net/VIaj8.jpg
@Rarst Some really good points there - I get the whole 'nasty theme devs' thing - but seriously, banning base64_*??!
@StephenHarris as per comments - he made a blunder and instead of backtracking tried to turn it into "I am right and you are all mean jerks". bad reaction.
16:41
... google requires you to use base64 to encode a signature for their checkout gateway... douchebags :)
Oh great. Built a "related custom post types plugin" for a day and now just realized, that scribu built "posts2posts"... sigh
@kaiser happens to all good Dooritarianisticians
@TomJNowell :)
@ungestaltbar (...)
How perfect is that: Scribus plugin looks even close to exactly to what I built.
16:54
and core still doesn't have relationships...
@Rarst That's plugin material! :D
meh...
I completely agree with you, but - you can say whatever you want - scribus plugin is in many ways simply perfect.
yeah, he put some serious time and effort into it... it's a pity I don't get to use it at work :(
Just head the first fatal crashes...
> Trying to get property of non-object
> Invalid argument supplied for foreach()
so far I hope that it's my failure.
Seems that it was my failure.
17:26
of course
of course not completely. the plugin checks in before the actual post gets saved (of course). and there it doesn't check for not set title, etc.
17:55
Is it simple or seemingly difficult and a long procedure to backup a WP database from a plugin?
Don't delete files directly from eclipse. Bypasses trashbin. sigh. Back to start.
I don’t delete files. But when I do, I do it with Eclipse.
@toscho Bypasses trashbin on Linux?
not sure
My theme, running fine since 2008, just starts to break suddenly.
And my new theme is not ready. Of course.
@kaiser Can you tell rilwis how useless his newsfeed is? unsubscribe
18:14
@toscho Which newsfeed?
deluxe blogdingsbums
@toscho I simply stopped communication and git-pull-requests, because he moved all the "support" for the meta box lib there. So no chance. Simply unsubscribe.

Just made a WP DB backup plugin. Woot.
nice google font, how long has that been down?
@Wyck It worked 9-10 days ago perfectly. Not sure since when it's down. Will try again tomorrow. But as it's not official, I guess they won't answer questions.
@Wyck wow! - google still rocks
Is there a way to prevent WP from checking the plugin name/version against other plugins in the repo?
@MichaelEcklund Give the folder a unique name or...
@MichaelEcklund use this:
function no_update_check( $r, $url )
	{
		// Not a plugin update request. Bail immediately.
		if (
			0 !== strpos(
				 $url
				,'http://api.wordpress.org/plugins/update-check'
			)
		)
			return $r;

		$plugins = unserialize( $r['body']['plugins'] );
		$p_base  = plugin_basename( __FILE__ );

		unset (
			$plugins->plugins[ $p_base ],
			$plugins->active[ array_search( $p_base, $plugins->active ) ]
		);

		$r['body']['plugins'] = serialize( $plugins );

		return $r;
	}
add_filter( 'http_request_args', 'no_update_check', 5, 2 );
21:37
okay thanks.
yes
@MichaelEcklund But anyway: Give it a unique name - much easier. Just append the version or something like that.
@kaiser That function/filter was exactly what the doctor ordered.
Thanks again. :)
22:38
@kaiser good I went with Yahoo... also lol - search for it and twitter full of bot errors :)
@Rarst Did I really recommend google? I thought geonames... Ad bot errors) got a link? Can't find anything.
22:57
We just launched 2-step verification to boost the security of your #Dropbox! Check out our blog and turn it on! http://ow.ly/dgUna
yay... I was worried about them not having it
@Rarst Thanks. Completely misunderstood your original message.
