@SQB @Gallifreyan Smokey detects lots of false positives. But there are only like 20 false positive posts flagged out of over 20k flags cast.
Wait, why don't we already have a meta feed in here?

SQB
We decided we didn't need a meta feed here.

@SQB hmm. Don't remember that.
@Gallifreyan bleh, I flagged and then realized that I could have reviewed it. Now I can't.

SQB
Oh, by the way @Mithrandir, I clarified my position on what I said yesterday, in a room you're not in, so I'll repeat it here.
Clarification on what I said in The Restaurant: while an off-site mod is within their rights to make the adminstrative change they did, I'd appreciated the following:
"Hey people, is there a reason [link to post] hasn't been implemented?" @ping @ping @ping
"Ehr, no, we're just sad to see her go, we haven't got round to it."
"Mind if I do it?"
"No, go ahead."

OK, I understand that. But I don't see why you reacted like that. You know that SFF chat has gotten a lot of attention from mods across the network recently.

@Mithrandir I know. But this was completely non-urgent as well. Had actual moderation been needed, I wouldn't have had any problem with that — I would've thanked them for stepping in.
@Gallifreyan flagged.
Is there a way to get notified on votes on meta?

Possibly a userscript

But somewhat i can tell the alien covenant is just a continuation of Prometheus. Could someone please explain the story in detail. Spe...

On mobile; not doing it myself (sorry).

Does this really answer the question? scifi.stackexchange.com/a/72034/70236

@Gallifreyan wait, that has been accepted?

4:55 PM
shrug whatever makes people happy. Personally, I flagged as NAA because it doesn't say who supported Umbridge, and neither does it claim that no one supported her. It just rants about a lot of people being against her.

5:20 PM
And I deleted it, despite its acceptance.

Now asked as a question, but the answer still needs deletion.

Owner deleted it.

Ah. Well, at least they've got their answer.

scifi.stackexchange.com/a/163342/70236 - need to keep an eye on.

8:52 PM
Ah, it's been moved to chat: chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/61892

9:10 PM
@Gallifreyan What the heck.

@Randal'Thor It's ok, no harm done, just a misguided attempt to preserve published content.

@Gallifreyan Yeah, I'm just surprised that someone could be so misguided.

SQB
@Randal'Thor my thoughts exactly. Including the heck.

@Randal'Thor Do you mind adding the film night as an event?
Oh crap, I should've added it in chat

@Gallifreyan Oh, has it finally actually got a fixed date?

SQB
9:15 PM
(Removed)? I call fowl!

@Gallifreyan Hold on. If I add it as a chat event, it'll also show on the main site.
Thus halving the amount of work needed ;-)
Ah, too late.

Really? That's cool.

Q: July Film Night: The Iron Giant, featuring Vin Diesel, on Saturday 15th July at 6pm UTC+0 (now with Sunday screening!)

doppelgreenerThe theme of July's movie night will be: Robots! 🤖 Your film should significantly involve, or be about, robots. At least one of them. Possibly, but not necessarily, giant robots. Mechas are counted. Cyborgs & organic robots will be counted, since there's fuzzy grey area I'd rather us be able to...

:38673029 to be honest, using Watch2Gether or anything other than "bring your own copy" doesn't feel quite right to me. Are we in the clear with that? We wouldn't want to cause SE to be sued for "enabling piracy".
TIL: cross-room replying doesn't work.

Yep.

Who's to say it's piracy? Gallifreyan said it's available for streaming on Netflix and Amazon.

SQB
Yeah, so I'm not sure. How does Watch2Gether work? Does it just sync streams, or does it make a stream available to people who wouldn't have had one otherwise?
Don't get me wrong. Even though I haven't been able to find the time to participate, I think it's a great way to build community.
But at the same time, I don't want to bring trouble to SE.

@SQB I believe it just syncs streams. So people other than the host get a 'stream' they wouldn't have had otherwise, but only as a one-off thing - just as if they were coming round to watch it on the host's TV.
Right, @Gallifreyan?

To be completely honest, I don't know. I know it doesn't host the videos, and we don't download them. It just plays the video from YouTube or DailyMotion, so it's up to those hosts to deal with piracy and stuff.
I'll try to rent it on Netflix or Amazon, but I'm not sure it's available in this country. Might need some VPN work.

@Gallifreyan I think it's an answer, just an unsourced one?
