Hmmm. Maybe this is just an elaborate 404 page.

Q: What advantages do students have who learn how to touch type?

studentWould a student's overall CS education benefit by having such a skill, and if so why not make it a required prerequisite?

Touch typing is HNQ, but I don't know why.

@thesecretmaster, the comment stream on the touch typing question is drifting toward the nasty. Maybe a mod intervention is needed. Some users just seem to want the last word.

Looking...

Actually on my answer, not the question itself.
@thesecretmaster TY

In the future, a flag+a ping would be a bit better because then there's a bit more of a paper trail as to how the situation was handled.

Ok. Flag the answer or one of the comments?

either

@Buffy I have no idea, but don't look a gift horse in the mouth!
I deleted all of the comments that followed the move to chat.

@BenI. Delted or moved them? There was new info there.
oops. Can you recover them?

@Buffy Ah, that explains all the comments
I missed that earlier

Can the deleted comments be recovered? There was a new idea or two in the new ones.
I think deleting the comments on the question was also a mistake. Too early to do that.

@Buffy I deleted some of the comments on the question; they added nothing and were just noise, for example:
> I enjoy freaking people out who interrupt me by looking at them and listening to them, while at the same time emptying my internal keyboard buffer without looking at the keyboard :-)
Anyone want to try editing the question? It's super broad and as it currently stands it's just likely to cause disputes like the one in chat.

Hard to do, especially since the title and the body aren't quite the same thing.
The title seems like a valid question, but the body is too narrow, actually. A yes-no question.

Or VTC...

I tried to cover it in the answer.
VTC??

It may drive traffic, but IMO a question like that reflects poorly on our site.

Ah. Why kill the golden goose? It is bringing us views. We need that now.
The idea of what should be a prerequisite, however, is an important one. People need to reflect on that. hence my answer.
I'm the one reaping the benefit, of course.
17K and a badge.
I wanted to close it early on, but then thought about it at a deeper level.
Maybe should be a thing.

The idea of a "prerequisite" for as broad an area as "all of CS" seems a bit broad.
could be useful though

BROAD, not bread, of course.
Hmmm. Maybe I need to look at my fingers more.

6:07 PM
What can I say, I'm hungry

My fingers are fat, but not juicy.

6:34 PM
@thesecretmaster Actually it was the new comments on my answer that I thought introduced a new idea.
@BenI.^^^^^

Yes, I know.

As for the comments on your answer, I'm gonna let Ben look over those again, seeing as he deleted them, and it's not particularly urgent.

On another note, my "improvement" to the question would be to ask about "what are the minimum requrements for CS". But that would make it a broader question. So I refrain.
@thesecretmaster But it is possible, at least. Yes?

6:39 PM
@thesecretmaster I added that since I didn't remember what those comments were. I thought they were more cogent, but couldn't see them to be sure. I assume it requires mod superpowers to see deleted comments.

Yeah, it does

(self deleted comments can't be undeleted BTW)

Q: How do I edit a web page that's already created?

chenbellI've been given the ftp.xml to view through filezilla, it shows a directory but I'm not sure what it's for. And I've been sent a folder that includes: css, images, js, include, style, index, plus other content. I have these two things that I don't know how to use. The site is already up but do I ...

Ah, typing as a tag. Serendipity.
