@Willeke I second that idea. I'd modify it slightly, to not ask for a specific distance but simply make it broadly "within the same metropolitan area" to account for differing sizes of such.

@gparyani While I understand what you're saying, I think a distance is easier to define/understand than "metropolitan area", and since nobody knows exactly where anybody is, there's not going to be disqualifications if someone is 5km further from home than they say 😜 Something like 50km or 100km is broad enough IMO. I'm happy for you to host it

Plus for me, I'm within 50km of 2 metropolitan areas (in two countries), so does that exclude one of them?
