I was in Lisbon over New Years, very crowded at times.
Not just tourists those days.

@Willeke I imagine the crowd, I don't go there because of that
There is even security (concert-like rules so no closed water bottles, etc)
A lot of locals go too plus people from other towns

We did stay away from the crowded events. But as it was the time we had to travel and we wanted somewhere 'not cold' it suited us.
We have not seen all but enough to have good memories.
A city to come back to, but I think we might taste other parts of the country before returning to the capital city.
