@dda some epic editing of late! :) How about directing that energy towards the unanswered queue next? ;) (even if it starts with editing them)

9:00 AM
Many people here

Hi @hacker804

hello

Did you get an answer to your question already?

well
to one part of it
well the thing is I booked an appointment for visa interview using my old passport
and I want the visa on the new one

Can you ask the rest of it here, (whether the person to answer it is here or not.

9:03 AM
will that be a issue

Can you bring your old passport?

yes
I have it with me
I will take both

I am pretty sure they will accept that, people have to renew passports often just before traveling.

one more thing

If only because of running out of pages for stamps or running out of time.

9:05 AM
when you submit documents do they keep both passports or just the current one?
I had 2 years on my old but renewed it since my study program was longer

I never had to hand in a passport and documents when I had to get a visa (just walk in and get the stamp) so I would not know. But I think they have no use for the old passport and you can at least ask to take it with you.

its a long term visa
Well anyways thank you

Maybe one of the other regulars here will answer that question for you, they will ping you when they have an answer for you.

I will take both and ask them if I need to submit both or just the valid one
@Willeke That would be great.
I was getting anxious over this

Where are you going? (I have read your question but do not remember)

9:09 AM
Germany
For Masters

Ah, that should not be a big problem, they are very much 'the rules are the rules' but the rules are within reason.
Do you already speak German?

well I have already renewed it so i have to use the new one everywhere now
Not really. Its an English program. Once I get the visa approved I will start learning it side by side

I have found that individual Germans are very willing to speak English, but as groups with one non-German speaker, German is the language.

Well
anything that makes my life easier
should be worth investing in

I do understand German, making it both easier and harder, as they have even less respect to listen to my Dutch or English.

9:12 AM
Are you from NL

I must also say that with internet young people have learned much more English than they used to.
Yes, I am from NL.

You ever been to Delft
I applied there
too

They used to have just what they learned in school, now they often have a lot more from reading and watching movies online.
Yes, been to Delft but as an in-country tourist.

I got all my English from movies

I learned most when meeting people while traveling, (after years in school but I could not really speak it then.)

9:15 AM
Well

Delft is a nice small city, but with quite much bigger outlaying living areas.

We start learning english formally from elementary
upto high school

Ah, same kind of education, learn in school but only really learn when you feel the need to use it.

Moderators, why was this answer, which actually does answer the question, converted to a comment?

@phoog, it wasn't me but it did not look much like an answer and I am not yet sure OP did get that as an official answer or made it up out of our reactions.
I just had a look and I can find neither the deleted answer nor the comment that was made from it.

6:14 PM
@phoog, found it and undeleted it.

6:35 PM
@MarkMayo I would travel long-haul a lot more often if I could afford business class seats
with economy you're essentially wasting a full day or more in each direction on recovering
my limit is 6 hours before I'm extremely exhausted. Less than 3 hours and its like taking the bus

Hello all. I come in peace, and to ask how it is possible that someone can reject this edit (travel.stackexchange.com/review/suggested-edits/98160) as "This edit does not make the post even a little bit easier to read, easier to find, more accurate or more accessible. Changes are either completely superfluous or actively harm readability."

The only thing I can think of is that someone is gaming to get his/her review queue badge and just 'votes' that on everything.

There are a number of non native speakers on Travel.SE whose level of English is quite superb, and I know better to fix the odd typo or awkward expression, but the edit I have proposed WILL make the answer LOOK and READ better. This Giorgio character has already rejected two of my edits

I tried to approve it just now, can you check whether it took?

Please have a word with him.

@Mari-LouA, I am not happy with several of the people editing and have made it known in such a way they will not accept my point of view.

8:15 PM
@Willeke Yes, it has been approved now
Thank you :)

I hope that @MarkMayo or @JonathanReez or @JoErNanO will do that for you.
As I told you in that meta Q, I do approve of your work as I have seen it so far (except that in the one case you were at the wrong time.)
And yes, a quick look at your edit proved it again.
As you know from your other site(s) we can only ask users to do or not do things, some are very good at picking up things asked, others ignore the requests.
And some even accuse us of being nasty in different ways.

Look, I am not going to be a huge contributor because I frankly don't know enough. So nobody should lose any sleep. I am not a troublemaker but I do know how to edit posts with sensitivity and respect. However, it looks like I've annoyed this Giorgio, for some reason.

You are aware that he does come into this room and will be able to read this?

Yes. Good. I didn't write a meta post. I came here. If he can explain why he rejected two of my edits for being superfluous etc., I'd be grateful.

@Mari-LouA, as you live wherever you live, you will have some local knowledge about where you live. We would appreciate if you do run a search for questions about that area and add your bit about it if you can, certainly if there are no answers there yet.

8:23 PM
@Mari-LouA I disagree and don't see how your edits improve the post
I'd let the person who wrote the answer make a final decision

@Giorgio, can you please answer @Mari-LouA's Q just op there.
@JonathanReez, I let you take over, bedtime here.

@Willeke I did that already, the answers were all spot on :)

Bye @Mari-LouA

See you. And thanks.
@JonathanReez the grammar is generally very good but there were a couple of minor errors. The vocabulary, for example, the word "Naiveness" does not exist. I chose to fix a couple of other things so as not to make the edit superficial or trivial.

8:29 PM
But I shall refrain. No more edits from me. If a mod cannot see that the edit was helpful, I am helpless.

@Mari-LouA I would recommend going through our unanswered queue instead. It has at least 100 questions with bad grammar there :)

No, thank you. I know when I'm beaten.

@Willeke @Mari-LouA I have, indeed, rejected several of your edits, as I viewed them as not needed: the Q&A's were older, not recent, written by higher rep users, and had lots of views and votes. There are edits which vastly improve content and those that correct grammar, punctuation, spelling. I'm very much into editing, but some seem to be just nitpicking. It's not personal, promise.

8:58 PM
@Giorgio No probs. Glad to hear you have no bones to pick with me. Ciao, e grazie.

@Mari-LouA Non ti preoccupare, tutto bene.
