No Monarch questions yet!

8:17 AM
Do we not already have a nearly canonical "airline went bust - what do I do?" question?

34
Q: What happens to plane tickets in case of airline bankruptcy?

mtsI am sometimes eyeing tickets that are a far bit in advance and in some cases I know the airline that is selling the ticket / operating the flights is in economic trouble. If I have a ticket for future travel with an airline that has gone bankrupt, what happens to my travel plans? Or, how much ...

That was the one I was thinking of
Good to have easy access to that so we can swiftly close any Monarch questions in that area

I even had an answer on that and can't recall it at all

Did you just try and upvote it? :-)

8:34 AM
Nope, but I did think it was extraordinarily perspicacious

First Monday in my new house. Moved in at beginning of August

@Berwyn Well, we are officially coming over for our first Travel.SE barbecue.
creates Meta post

oh?

invites EVERYONE

8:40 AM
Lol!
I should plan for next August and invite Travel.SE to the Edinburgh Festival...
Could be a fun meet up

@RoryAlsop Yes yes yes!
I might even come up to Scotland towards the beginning of November.

This November?
Cool
(And probably damp and windy :-)

Yeah I have some holidays and I am a bit more free.

^ classic Scottish joke there

"If you can see the hill over there, then it's about to rain. If you can't see the hill over there, then it is raining."

8:42 AM
Well - if timing works I'd happily meet up for beer/coffee depending on preference

Scotch!

Ahh - in that case I may have some of my own whisky bottled by then!
I'm decanting a third for bottling now, and re-casking the rest into a different barrel for further ageing

be ready in 20 years?

@RoryAlsop For real?
That is by far the most Scottish thing ever.

Yup - for real. My and my brothers invested in the startup Strathearn Distillery, and distilled and laid down our own barrel. It qualified as whisky this year by age

8:46 AM
cool

I have my own gin too, but it's a make on demand
It's for my band - so we sell it alongside t-shirts and CDs at gigs (we know our target demographic...)

Excellent!

Hmmm - in reading up this makes me sound like an alcoholic... Scottish stereotypes, much? :-)
