@happybuddha I didn't go, I was wishing to go..
got work

2:57 AM
@jpatokal My objection is that the answer carries potentially incorrect information about whether the card in the picture is Chip And Signature. The only people who can definitively answer it is American Express so the answer that is provided is actually to a different question which is what do Chip and Signature looks like or what Chip and Signature card actually is not the question posted.
Happy New Year to All.

the online map probelm is china seems to be getting worse

3:09 AM
@HaLaBi: i can't get the keyboard to work on teamviewer9 today

u want me to restart it?

hmm didn't think of that

u also restart ur notebook..

restarting teamviewer didn't help

I will restart it? r u doing anything?

3:11 AM
no just trying to get google maps there since it won't work here

ok I will restart it now.

let me know when it's back up thanks

@hippietrail it is back

Doc
6 mintues of fireworks?

let me know if it works or not..

3:18 AM
kb working now

ok :)

here in china it's been about a week of fireworks

here is saudi it is been boring as it always been...

Doc
@happybuddha I can only presume that's a record based on the number of fireworks, not anything else
last years Sydney NYE fireworks cost more, and lasted longer

oh i should say that here even the fireworks are boring

you should be greatful saudis are so much holier than dubiites

Doc
@HaLaBi you fly Jetstar, you deserve what you get

ha?
I am thinking of my retirement plan from now..

Doc
although on most airlines, you can't use a seat-belt extender in an exit row. not sure about jetstar

early retirement at age 50
pension will give me 50% of my monthly salary.. not so bad.. and keep travelling..
I am just bored of working.. seriously.. I think it is the symptoms we get after getting back to work from a vacation

3:25 AM
> You're so lucky that my favourite pastime is wasting both time and money getting to and from airports.
you fly, you deserve what you get

Wow! IT got busy!

karlson is here - everybody quiet!

What? You think you need hall pass since I am here again? :)

karlson just heard the noise of coins falling.. came to look around...

Doc
@karlson you need to look at little closer at the maps
or find one from later than about 2006 when they added it
the little yellow bump down in the bottom right-ish
admittedly it's not that clear that it's airside

3:29 AM
grr why is installed keyboard layouts in windows xp not under either "keyboard" or "international support"?

Doc
but i've walked that hallway countless dozen times, so i can assure you that it's there

what keyboard you want?

how hard can it be to find an electronics mall in a city in china \-:
@HaLaBi: chinese

u want me to install it?

@Doc Yellow Bump?
On which view?

3:31 AM
please

@Doc Ah!. I see it now

simplified?

Doc
err... bottom left
not right

yep simplified IME i guess

@hippietrail chose the keyboard from the list.. you can see it now?

3:32 AM
@Doc I'll amend the answer tomorrow but this is as clear as mud
G'night everone!

night

Doc
it's perfectly clear to me
but like i said, i've walled through that hallway dozens of times

@Doc If you know exactly what it is yes. If you are looking at the multicolored map of the terminal with a poor legend it's as clear as mud.

ha! it seems to actually use my keyboard layout!
my god this is painful - i'm going to write a complaint letter to jetstar

Doc
i wrote jetstar a letter once
got a hundred bucks out of them i think
never flew them again

3:45 AM
i used them once or twice when they were cheaper than the bus

Doc
i'd take the bus
blogs.oracle.com/Doc/entry/jetstar_-_on-time,_but_over - that was my fun issue with them (unfortunately the images appear to be dead... damn oracle)

this seems to be the electronics area of hohhot: ... oops link is too long
in australia i always take the bus unless i can't get the time or the bus costs more, including getting to and from the airports
"chengxin digital mansion" and "integrity digital square", right next to each other right in the CBD

Doc
the australian dollar is very lucky at the moment - it was 0.8888 earlier!

4:02 AM
it was around .95 when i started my trip i think - i was a bit shocked to see it so low
can we see its value for august 1 2013?

Doc
oanda.com will tell you

ah it was .90 but it got up to .96 around october 20
chengxin means integrity so the square and the mansion are part of the same thing
i wish we were allowed to ask questions about where to buy jeans and shoes when travelling!
oh yeah i was going to see if there's an evil walmart here. carrefour didn't even seem to have cheap jeans

I heard diesel has very cheap jeans...
$300
:D

4:17 AM
i could buy thirty pairs of jeans at the price i'm expecting

I wouldn't pay 300 for a jeans..
150 maybe..

i just want something that will last at least three months where they have a fitting room and all prices marked and sizes to fit a six foot tall guy

6 foot is 2 meters?

i think i've paid fifty to seventy a couple of times when i was young and silly

182 cm..

4:18 AM
7 foor is more like 2 metres

I am 180...
this size is available in asia..
no worries

i'm 185. taller than most chinese but i see a chinese taller than me a couple of times a week
i had trouble getting shoes in singapore/malaysia and i have tiny feet for a tall guy

yes u r considered tall in that part of the world.. but average in Holland..
my foot size is 43.. babys size :/
me go to work
see ya..
c:\> exit

yep occasionally i even feel short in holland (-:

4 hours later…
8:50 AM
my most popular question on travel.se is about weed, now I decided to ask another one
0
Q: Is smoking weed legal or just tolerated in Colorado?

Dirty-flowOn 1.1.2014 at least 24 pot shops opened in Colorado and I wonder if smoking marijuana is now legal or just tolerated as long as you don't smoke on the street (like in Amsterdam). What are the differences between Colorado and Amsterdam? Are there any restrictions for tourists?

2 hours later…
10:27 AM
i'm so china'd out

1 hour later…
11:34 AM
if you're a fancy of crazy big sea creatures, I can recommend the marine reserves around New Caledonia
today when diving, I saw a prawn/shellfish/lobster thingy that was over 3 foot long, and almost a foot wide!
it was huge!
manta rays were pretty good too, and yet more grey nurse sharks :)

12:06 PM
but how did it taste?

marine reserve = not allowed to touch, let along bring home
given the size, I suspect it might've won a fight anyway!
the touching thing is an odd one
on the surface, you say "why would I want to?"
at 20m, you somehow find yourself trying to pet a shark...
(handy hint - unlike many dogs and cats, sharks generally don't like being petted)

1 hour later…
1:31 PM
Morning!

2:01 PM
@karlson i was told that sailing back from car to eur can be horriffic

@andra Depends on what you use and when you do it. May -> November is a Hurricane season so you're taking your chances.

2 hours later…
4:06 PM
@Doc and @hippietrail I just flew Jetstar this evening (CHC-MEL). Composiing my complaint letter already. :/ However, I was in the exit row and you're meant to be fit, willing and able and without any physical restrictions. I'd consider that perhaps an overly large person may cause issues in the exit aisle, but I don't know the official policy...

@MarkMayo Was there an issue?
@hippietrail When go to shellfish/lobster/prawn around this size it will suck. It's going to be tough like rubber and taste accordingly. :)
Actually any lobster > 1.5 lb will taste like crap

4:32 PM
Anyone for the next life?

Q: Here is Practical Explanation about Next Life, Purpose of Human Life, philosophical/religious facts, theories etc.

jamesHere is Practical Explanation about Next Life, Purpose of Human Life, philosophical/religious facts, theories etc. http://jayagauranitai.blogspot.in/

Doc
@MarkMayo on most airlines you're not allowed use a seat-belt extender on the exit row, because it becomes a tripping hazard if you need to evac. not sure if jetstar have that rule or not tho
@karlson there, i answered it for you

@Doc Yeah... @andra answered the previous one. :)
@Doc Finally found a map where that connector is marked for SFO

Doc
4:54 PM
nope, that's not what that shows
that's international arrivals -> domestic, which is NOT airside

Click Departures

Doc
ohh.. if you click on departures, yeah
the URL you gave goes to the arrivals

URL Yes but I mentioned that it is on Departures map....
I always hate these dynamic sites that don't provide a separate URL...

Doc
you still didn't really answer most of his questions
but hey, i did, so it's all good :)

Doc
5:13 PM
awww... ankur deleted my virgin birth answer... :(

6:02 PM
@markmayo @hippietrail could have used some waterproof spf100 in jinja burnt knees three times in a row three years in a row rafting in africa

Doc
6:14 PM
hmm.. i seem to have forgotten to go to work... blah

7:02 PM
@Doc Is that important?

2 hours later…
Doc
8:59 PM
well, i did intent to start out the year by going, but whatever

Doc
9:12 PM
i mean, now we're got tomorrow. Friday. Is it really worth going in on Friday, or just give up on this week completely and start a fresh next monday?

Doc
9:40 PM
i think i broke our travel booking website. apparently SFO to Cleveland is too hard for it :(

:)
Time to go home
@Doc I don't see a difference between 18 and 21 limitation. The only restriction for example at Budget is rental from Corporate Location. And even then this is lifted in NY state
budget.com/budgetWeb/html/en/customer/commonquestions/#What are the minimum age requirements for renting?

Doc
9:55 PM
most companies wont rent to below 20
NY state and one other are exceptions as it's mandated by law, but with higher surcharges than 21-24
a few will rent to 20, but not below. or to military, etc

From corporate locations. Licensed locations may rent from 18 years of age.
Anyway. I still think it's a duplicate.

Doc
it's not
plus the specific question he's asking is can a <21 year old be a listed driver, which i dont believe is answered in the other question
