Tell me here in that case
I'm interested in knowing
(If the others wanna hear it share it on the main chat but if you really think it's not right, do say so :P)
do you know about the MGTOW and MRA communities?
I'm not familiar with them
well there is this community of men (exclusively) that sees unfairness and double standards in society against men-specifically how family courts handle divorce cases, domestic violence cases, and other sex crime cases
whether or not it exaggerates statistics is something I am unaware of
but I was part of these communities
the MGTOW communities have abandoned marriage completely
Oh wow
the reason they give goes something along that marriage results in sadness or enslavement to the female partially or completely, and even divorce
and that in the latter case, alimony is almost always won by the female, forced on the male to be paid, by the divorce court, and this also includes the loss of child custody and an additional burden of child support if there are children involved
finally, if you're unable to pay them, you end up in prison (or so the MGTOW/MRA communities say)
so they say "Fuck marriage. let's go our own ways" hence MGTOW-Men Going Their Own Way
should I continue?
20:27
Go on
I've only scratched the surface of the foundation of beliefs these communities hold-and there are some statistics to back them up.
However, the only flaw here comes from the fact that men who stay single die earlier, and also have an earlier onset of several mental and physical illnesses
How much of the latter do you think is causality?
that's what research in psychology shows, and formerly when I had been in these communities I stumbled into this research and this is what caused all the dilemma
they did control for various factors, and lack of marriage/female companionship is part of the cause
so right now I see two options-go into academics and live a well-settled lifestyle, or go into industry and earn lots of money and live a sort of hedonistic lifestyle (which had been my plan earlier on)
so that's what my dilemma was
20:36
I think in the case of marriage, there are various ways it can go
as I had already said, this is something that could have upset many
Marriage would need to be done rather carefully
you're absolutely right
it's a huge, HUGE gamble
anyway I gotta go dude, may be some day later I'll explain more to you :P
Like, there has to be 100% open communication from the start, no secrets at all
it's not that simple
20:37
Needs to be based simultaneously on love, respect, friendship, etc
trust me it's not that simple
I mean, so in what research I've done, most marriage problems are functions of money
And secrecy
At least those that end in divorce
(In-laws seem to be the second biggest problem)
there are more factors, several more
I mean, the stats I've seen peg these problems at basically 90%
the male's physical attractiveness is also a factor, for example (of course so is the female's but that of the male is something that's hardly ever expected)
you're right though
20:40
So that's why I'm saying it's not really a "gamble"
I think my parents had one big thing going for them though
Which is honestly an argument for marrying somewhat younger as far as I see it
Financially, my dad didn't have much to bring to the table
times have changed
I mean sure, but that's actually a principle I think holds to now
Because if you're insanely rich
There will be people who will come to you and can play a damn good act at sincerity
anyway dude, it's 2:12 am here, I really gotta go now, as interesting as our conversation might be
we'll continue this later on
If you're not especially desirable, and your marriage sprouts from genuine love/friendship/respect, it's gonna be harder to come by, but you're more likely to last once it happens
Alright, see you! (Lol I'm used to going to sleep at 3 :P)
so am I, but I'm trying to correct this :P
anyway see ya!
