I usually use the blunt approach of: I work with computers all day, I really value my free time, that's why I charge 50 euros per hour. I estimate this may cost me 2 hours of research to fix, maybe more. Do we have a deal? Usually stops people right in their tracks because they A) realise that they were asking your free time for free, B) you need to research ergo that you don't know and C) the 100 bucks isn't worth for that issue. i'll google it myself thank you. — Tschallacka 1 min ago

Has your wife thought about taking a class? Or pairing up with others who were learning as well? I'm not saying you shouldn't teach her what you can, but trying out multiple approaches may work better in her case. The fact that she's your wife also changes the dynamics of the teaching relationship. — Stephan Branczyk 2 mins ago

A kappa (河童, lit. river child), also known as kawatarō (川太郎), komahiki (駒引, lit. horse puller), or kawatora (川虎, lit. river tiger) is a yōkai demon or imp found in traditional Japanese folklore. The name is a combination of the words kawa (river) and wappa, a variant form of 童 warawa (also warabe) "child". In Shintō, they are considered to be one of many suijin (水神,“water deity”), their yorishiro, or one of their temporary appearances. A hairy kappa is called a hyōsube (ひょうすべ). In Japanese Buddhism, they are considered to be a kind of hungry ogre. Therefore, Sha Wujing, who is a character from...

@bluevapor The questions you're asking aren't related to IPS. The problem is that they over charged you for something you did not consume/request. What you should ask/explore instead is how to approach the business or waitress for a refund. — Sidar 33 secs ago

@Tinkeringbell -You should do what you feel you must. Threatening me with a meta post reflects poorly on you, not on me. Either way I don't care. — Simpleton 44 secs ago

Therapists are trained to work with people with unusual-to-them cultural contexts. They, unlike random people on the internet and in your social circle, are very unlikely to dismiss you out of hand; rather they will work with you to dig into it. So this actually is something you should discuss with a professional. — Monica Cellio 1 min ago

A location tag would be very helpful here on IPS. Where I'm from, discussing this kind of thing with a therapist would not condemn you in such a way, and is definitely something you should gain comfort in sharing with a professional. — Jess K. 25 secs ago
