@MelanieShebel Nothing much really - we're just getting rid of stuff as we browse the site...
But there will hopefully be exciting new developments, coming soon™ to Chemistry Stack Exchange...

@hBy2Py I think that at the end of the day if a question is answerable within reason, it shouldn't be closed. A lot of our homework rubbish is answerable, so should remain open. However, if it's rubbish that we don't want to deal with, it can and should get downvoted.
That's probably the best I could condense it into.

@orthocresol <nod>, that's a good summary of where I'm at, too.
I'm having trouble in the discussions with @Mart, though, because I agree with, e.g., @penta, that some of the wording of stuff on the site doesn't reflect this philosophy very well.
(To note: maybe it does reflect it well, but for some reason the way I read it is different from most people?)
