This is an Ask Ubuntu room...
ehh
@Mendeleev greetings to thee! What exactly are you after in terms of RAM sticks, capacities, density, etc.
@Mendeleev my owner account is AU
where I have diamond mods. It doesn't matter :)
the other thing to consider is speed and latency
i thought it best to not derail TNB further :)
Low density, DDR2-667 or DDR2-800, 2GB or 4GB sticks, unbuffered DIMMs
here's a link:
we talking server or desktop RAM? or Laptop ram which runs really expensive
@Mendeleev and how much are you after and how much do you currently have
also, number of DIMMs in your system
I currently have 4x1GB. Any amount of 2GB sticks would be an improvement, and I would put the extra RAM in one of my other DDR2 Optiplexes.
Funny story, I salvaged these from a "computer art" sculpture made of surplus computers.
Enormous waste if you ask me.
i can probably find second-hand crucial ram cheaper on eBay
oh there's this
@Mendeleev ebay.com/itm/…

@ThomasWard Oh wow, thanks
not sure what Dell system you're using but that's just one option
it's 'used' but 'guaranteed to work'
AND it's the low density ram you asked for :p
it's also an 8GB kit
4 x 2GB
@ThomasWard Low density is because this computer's motherboard cannot address high density RAM.
indeed
@Mendeleev there's also this, but that 8GB kit looks a little more cost efficient on eBay - newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA5755798450
@ThomasWard Thanks as well, will keep in mind
you're welcome :)
