You won't pay the same tax either way. If you're a 1099 contractor, you owe both the employer and employee portions of payroll taxes. W2 employees owe only the employee portion. That's one of the reasons that you need to make a higher hourly rate as a 1099 contractor in order to net the same amount in the end. — Justin Cave 5 mins ago

Nothing wrong with boasting a bit, cv is all about putting yourself in the best possible light, you're selling a product. Essential to the team but not renewed contract doesn't fit in quite so well though. — Kilisi 2 mins ago

It sounds kind of weird actually. There are different reasons a person may be replaced by multiple, including the reason that they need two people is that you left things in such a mess or poorly documented that they NEED two. Or, it could be some reason like they made a hire for other reasons and need a place to park that person before transitioning to another role . Many reasons. If you were to say to me that you must be good because you were replaced by X people, I would feel you were arrogant but also naive. — Chan-Ho Suh 12 mins ago
Edited the post a little to clarify; was asked to stay but chose not to renew since I'm relocating etc. — data princess 32 mins ago

5 is too little and 11 is too much :q But yeah the actual percentage doesn't matter as much as the principle of asking for slightly above current market value. — Juha Untinen 7 mins ago
BTW, this is exactly the reason why recruiters don't include salary in ads. The problem is that the shortage of people in IT increases dramatically, therefore every new employee is more expensive. However, that doesn't mean they will increase salary for all employees to match new hires. That would probably kill the company. I don't see as a problem that a new hire has bigger salary but I see as a problem that a promised pay rise did not happen. — Sulthan 19 mins ago
I bold the part @KentA. suggested because I think that's the most important part of your answer and I upvoted the answer. If you do mind the edit, please roll back the change. Thanks. — scaaahu 1 hour ago
Yes I’m asking if I’ll be fired and I’m in Sydney Australia. Also when my colleague said it would be her or someone else, the someone else part was referring to another position not mine. — Amari 2 hours ago
I think this email is way too long. It would be better to just ask for an update, or ask whether it would be possible to get their decision until the 31 of July. Then you could say that you have another offer, but you would really love to work here, and that's the reason why you are asking now. I doubt they are interested in all the details, it might be annoying to have to read and try to understand all this. — vgeclair 2 hours ago
Or it may be the other way around - submitting the letter after getting in may put you in position that you now have more to prove, because you "promise" more things. Smart manager will acknowledge the recommendation, but verify it nevertheless. — Drakemor 2 hours ago
I see, I thought about submitting the recommendation letter to my new manager so he knows that I am trustworthy and gives him and me a relief of having to prove myself. Also, I thought that this would set the bar that I am open for challenging tasks and show that I am somebody that could be relied on. These traits were not really emphasized during my interview — Raykh 2 hours ago

@Draco18s You only charged $20/hr? You need to charge way more, especially since you should have charged a contractor rate. Consider that you have to pay payroll taxes (15.3%) and income taxes on that. Plus, you're undervaluing everyone else who does contract work. $50/hr minimum for experienced, specialized work, more like $100/hr for most people over 10 years, and higher depending on your area; my entry level contractor rate was $30/hr, 10+ years ago. — BloodGain 8 mins ago
