Update: Change in JEE-Adv Pattern this time: Apparently, they have got questions with answers in "decimal" form.
5
That is, you have to round off to two decimal places
3

9:10 AM
how do know they want "two" decimal places?

@Sid holy moly
Fiitjee aits introduced that this year
Without rounding till 4 decimal places or something
All of this is fishy

Sid
@skull they write such in the information booklet

ok

@Sid oh no! Now some tricks can't be applied.
@AvnishKabaj the AITS I gave accepted answers upto 2 decimal places.
Seems like 2019 IIT is going to be too tough.

It's always relative to your peers
So it's going to be as tough as it was earlier nothing has changed
🙃

9:22 AM
'Nothing has changed' but what about the change in pattern they have brought?

3 hours later…
12:24 PM
Could someone please explain this?

12:35 PM
How was the paper @samjoe @GaurangTandon

Sid
@Shreya Um, I don't think the answer given is correct, if this is basic Physics that I know
Or there's something greatly diabolical about this, that I don't know

12:53 PM
@Sid, what should the answer be according to you? And why?

Sid
I think it should be "a".

@samjoe how was it? @Koolman @GaurangTandon @AnuragBaundwal others

Paper 1 was good but i found paper 2 lengthy. Couldn't do many maths questions also
Biggest shock was that integer type has become decimal type. Enter answer uptown two decimals !

Sid
@samjoe Better than last year?

@samjoe how was chemistry

12:56 PM
@Sid Why not (b) or (c)? If the masses are different, won't there be a force on the spring which'd cause it to stretch/compress?

@Sid that only time will tell. Last year I was very lucky.

@samjoe was it harder than 2016 (6 not 7)

@Abcd question wise, not at all. But because of this new change in pattern, it may be as tough

@samjoe how was chemistry
@samjoe only decimal was a shock na? What other changes in pattern were there?

@samjoe in both the papers were the pattern same?

12:58 PM
@Abcd organic was not tricky, but lengthy. Physical was easy. Inorganic was fine..
@Jasmine yeah

@samjoe did they give you enough rough sheets
For working

@samjoe were computers working fine?

@samjoe that means chemistry was easy! Since you're saying that organic wasn't tricky
@samjoe anyone's computer hanged :p ?

@samjoe was maths easy?

@Abcd not much but you had 8 question per subject per paper, so 48 such questions.
48 decimal questions in total.
@Jasmine maths was lengthy for paper 2. Only few were tricky

1:02 PM
3 mins ago, by Abcd
@samjoe did they give you enough rough sheets
@samjoe how hard was physics

@Abcd dude chill I'm on phone. And not going anywhere :P

For me physics was the easiest

They gave a thin pad with enough pages.

More than enough*

@VikasRv yeah especially paper 2 physics

1:04 PM
@VikasRv was it like "basic concepts level" physics
Or like twisted problems

Chemistry lolol . I just pray my chem score crosses subject wise cutoff

@VikasRv samjoe says it was easy
Which was the hardest subject

@Abcd no I didn't say it was easy :P
It went fine for me, neither good not too bad

@samjoe which was the hardest subject

Don't know dude, I can't remember exactly details.. they'll release the paper I guess
Wait, will they release the paper?

1:08 PM
22nd

Maybe. I dont even know the basic name reactions in chem.. I just solved physical and attempted inorganic bcus of partial marks

You'll get a mail
Of the paper
And your response sheet

@Abcd 22nd may?

@Jasmine yes
29th official answer key will be released

Was chemistry from ncert @samjoe ?

1:09 PM
And topper would be declared by coachinggs
10th june official result

I guess paper 2 was bad for me as compared to 1.. couldn't attempt many

Has anyone here given the BITSAT yet?

@samjoe

@samjoe chemistry from ncert?

you all must be very tierd after the exam....i hope it went well for all
chemistry numerical type that means physical chemistry heavy weightage....
i think fatigue sets in paper 2
Abcd hc verma?

See, many organic reactions were directly from ncert. But they put many reagents in each questions. One was directly sn1 sn2 e1 e2
@starunique2016 you in xii

@samjoe that's good. And inorganic were they from NCERT. ?

Who starred my comment saying paper 2 didnt go well? Proper sadist. :P
@Jasmine didn't go too good for me. But not many inorganic q were there

@samjoe which chapter in MATHS you think contained most of the questions?

yes in 12

1:29 PM
Was there a question from titration ?

how about physics?rotation?

@Jasmine not chapter but calculus. PnC was almost none.
2
Probability also a few were there.

Q: How is the tension of a wire an electromagnetic force?

user187604I found that tension is an electromagnetic force. I suspect the cause is that it's due to the cohesion of elements of the wire which is due to dipolar attraction of wire which is due an electric field. But how does electromagnetic phenomena get in? I need a realistic explanation.

@Jasmine yeah but more of ionic equilibrium type
@starunique2016 no tricky question from physics this time
4
Unlike '16 or '17

@JohnRennie how can you get current carrying wire and electrostatic charge while you are carrying a mass in string which causes tension?
So guys how did your exam go?

1:42 PM
@samjoe cool.
Best of luck for the results :)

Best of luck for all for results.

1:59 PM
Thanks all and prepare well.

@samjoe so they didn't give the hardest parts of Algebra?

Probability is not that easy. It's like PnC only. Good questions were there this time. Complex numbers also had 2-3 questions.

I wish I gave this year's paper ...
Abundant calculus in the paper
Less of 11th stuff

Starring is for highlighting important stuff, I think it's better to star only essential stuff, otherwise highlighting everything would equal highlighting nothing.

Easy physics
And easy chemistry
:/

Sid
2:08 PM
@samjoe you can cancel stars.

@Abcd no dude conic was there as usual. >5 questions probably

What if they fill next year's paper with Algebra :"(

@Sid I haven't starred
@Abcd dude listen

Like they filled your paper with calculus
@samjoe ?

Sid
@samjoe DOesn't matter. You are a Room Owner. You can cancel stars at will

2:10 PM
Everyone finds algebra stuff hard, so it's hard for everyone. You just keep practicing and clearing doubts.
@Sid oh cool nice powers.

@samjoe was conic sections easy
@samjoe will I be able to complete conic sections in a month after finishing my 12th portion
And what should I do about rest of my 11th maths

@Abcd I suck at that, still managed some of them. One was directly from definition of eccentricity

That scares me a lot

@Abcd you don't be scared of conics . It's easy if you have a good concept.

Sid
Co-ordinate geometry is the easy part of Mathematics, actually.

2:14 PM
@Abcd conics is essential for a good rank. Other than that, they ask one one question from most topics of 11. Complex also has good weightage. And also you may do PnC as it will help in probability.

@samjoe so we're 60 per cent from 12 ?

@samjoe the worst problem of algebra is the nasty tricks and cheats

@Jasmine not entirely sure, cuz many were from conics

@Abcd cengage coordinate geometry is the best for concepts for coordinate. If you want to you can buy.

@samjoe how did you master those tricks :/
They just manipulate like hell
And twist questions
In algebra
!!!

2:17 PM
@Abcd almost everyone seems to dislike algebra and love calculus

No but I love algebra.
@samjoe what about physics more of kinematics or dynamics?

@Jasmine you are an exception

@Jasmine I guess 2-3 kinematics, 4 or something - dynamics. Some were mixed. Like there was one where position vector was given and you had to tell what quantities will be conserved for that...

@samjoe everyone is saying physics was easiest this year,how true is that

@Jasmine good then, I read Aman goels blog and even he seemed to fear algebra.

2:21 PM
@samjoe now how do you feel after 3 years of jee prep and it's conclusion

@Abcd our teacher taught in such a way that I started to like algebra .

@Abcd I did not, algebra part is not my strength. But I did cover most concepts taught in coaching

@Jasmine i never got a good teacher in 11th in any subject... I have all good teachers now in 12th ...

@Abcd not all, but some questions were not even mains level

And in y case it's reverse all good teachers left to better centres after getting good feedbavk

2:24 PM
@samjoe oh, that means it was too easy

In our coaching, in XI, we were performing so badly that two of the good teachers we got got transferred to other centre.
@Abcd as I said, not the whole paper was very easy, but it was easy. You might have found it very easy, my physics is not too good.

@Abcd what do you expect in 2019
Is JEE totally unpredictable like no hint from this year.

I think they'll keep the decimal pattern. But nothing can be said with surety

@samjoe that's should not happen :(

Sid
Just to stray away from more pressure on samjoe about the paper, Mumbai got eliminated from IPL

2:35 PM
The calculation mistakes always
It always happens in pressure.

@Sid what dude they lost to whom? I didn't see any match from yesterday.. anyway I didnt like that team much

Sid
@samjoe Your Home Team. :P

@Sid ok @samjoe take rest no more pressure on you. Need to go now.

@Sid dude Delhi :P
@Jasmine chill, I guess when they release the paper then only you'll get proper information.

you got the paper abcd?

2:43 PM
@starunique2016 it will be sent to these people via mail on 22nd May

3 ✖
3.00 ✔
why? just why?

@Jasmine i am expecting the hardest paper in the history of jee in 2019 ... Gut feeling

@Abcd so am I but may be in least if probability maths comes easy as they have asked too much of lengthy maths this year

Was Physics easier than Mains?

Sid
@AnuragBaundwal It's an exam for a Govt.Funded institute. Not everything has to make sense. :P

2:57 PM
@AnuragBaundwal whaaaaattttfff Is that true?
Then I have made everything wrong
Shittttttttt. It's not lets hope

@MadhuchhandaMandal what happened?
@AnuragBaundwal what do you mean

If I write 3 as a answer will it be treated wrong @Abcd
?

@AnuragBaundwal oh it's too tough on the candidates! But I think FIITJIANS have go t an advantage as the AITS paper was exactly of the same pattern I guess of this year Advanced so they have already learned from the mistake that if you get 3 as the answer then write as 3.00 otherwise it will be treated wrong

what ? 3 instead of 3.00 is wrong >
?
WTF !

3:06 PM
@MadhuchhandaMandal omg :( no ,it should not be the case
no no no no :/

I think so. It won't be the case.

Yeah

Sid
I think it was clearly written in the Information Booklet.
So, yeah, You have to write 3.00
And it's entirely your prerogative to read the instructions carefully. If you messed up, it's all on you. No one else to blame

hmm
only section 1 and section 3 should save me

3:25 PM
Thousands of candidates would be losing marks because of that i guess :(
@VikasRv @MadhuchhandaMandal how many such questions were there which had Natural number and not fractional one as their answer

atleast 12-16

That's sad..
You should have been careful :(

they wont do it

Candidate: Oh nice! Integer answer questions. No negative marking yay!

did they they mention how many significant figures
it should not be like that

3:39 PM
IIT Prof: No so easy.
Student: Wut?
Prof: Instructions. Boii.

actually integer type qsns are the real ones....bringing us the taste of the late 90 iits

Student: Wut? Numerical answer?

the signifacant numbers are not mentioned because they might vary

(Student sits in despair and waits for the exam to begin)

and fucks it up
-_-

3:41 PM
IIT Prof: (Chuckles)

no but like 65.00/13/0
sorry
65.00/13.0

they did
:|

(Student finishes and submits the paper, and casually reads the instructions one more time)

you ppl had a a bad luck

(IIT Prof goes lol ;-;)

3:43 PM
@AnuragBaundwal bro stop :|

yeah stop

Sid
@VikasRv They mention that you have to round off to 2 decimal places

yeah
my mistake
fate

Well. Good. Excellent!! I'm now motivated to achieve bigger important things than Jee Advanced :-)

:)

3:55 PM
can anyone tell what if one metal carrying +5e charge is connected to another metal through a conducting wire?

depends on the potentials of the both metals
charges will transfer until the potentials are equal

@VikasRv oh yeah.
@VikasRv i dont know why i was thinking of charge its potential differnce. got it
@VikasRv and what if they have the same radius and look alike how will redistribution of electrons happen?
will it be like 2 e on one and the other 2 on other and one midway? i know its a silly one but still?

Sid
4:18 PM
I don't get your question. Charges don't remain midway in wires. That makes no sense

i mean consider 2 metallic conductors in isolated condition. now to one of them we remove 5 electron and then connnect it to the other one which is neutral so what will happen?

@Jasmine The 5 electrons will redistribute so that net force on each is 0

youtube.com/… i was referring to this 4:01
yeah but how? @MadhuchhandaMandal

@Jasmine Hard question in a simple outlooking wrapper :-)
Depends on several prameters like from which locations you remove that 5 electrons
Until you don't remove large number of charges
Constraint : Net electric field parallel to Conducting sphere and wire surface =0

yeah
depends on how far both the conductors are

4:30 PM
@MadhuchhandaMandal but from wherever you remove the result would be that on boundary 5 positive charges would develop by property of conductor so as to keep inside field 0
@VikasRv how?
@MadhuchhandaMandal but from wherever you remove the result would be that on boundary 5 positive charges would develop by property of conductor so as to keep inside field 0

where there qsns from biomolecules ?

yes
structure of b (-) glucopyranose
