I like how you used * to decide whether to flip or not, when I was thinking about this challenge I couldn't find anything better than reversing a number of times (which is long to write)

converting the testcases to a Husk readable format was 18 bytes

i think the first thing to fix would be interpreting [1, 2, 3] as an array rather than a string

I think I've solved the problems with ghc 7.10, I'll need to do a few more checks to be sure that everything works as it should, then I'll ask vyxal if I can steal their interface and tweak it
