El'endia Starman has unfrozen this room.

sv.
@El'endiaStarman Thanks so much!

No problem. :)

sv.
GUWAHATI: Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb came up with a new scientific interpretation for the evolution of internet when he said internet existed in the days of Mahabharata as well.

Deb, who made this statement at a public event, said: "India has been using internet since ages. In Mahabharata, Sanjay was blind but he narrated what was happening in the battlefield to Dhritarashtra anyway. This was due to internet and technology. Satellite also existed during that period."

@SK ^^^ meanwhile in India ...

S K
6:19 PM
@sv. whats up

sv.
@SK Hi

S K
@sv. whats the latest from "caste cow and curry" land?

sv.
@SK 'everything is in the Vedas' :)
Did Stephen Hawking really think theory of Vedas is superior than Einstein's relativity equation?

S K
@sv. How have you survived among these people for so long

sv.
@SK Good question. Change comes slow. I used to be one of them.

S K
6:29 PM
@sv. This is basically a hindutva brigade, right

sv.
@SK I don't think so. But you're right that some users desperately want to go back to the "Vedic way of life" - whatever that means. Re-implement the birth-based varna system.

S K
@sv. These people can still stop india's rise to an economic superpower

sv.
@SK Yeah. They are using technology to defame science/technology/progress.

S K
@sv. caste is hinduism and hinduism is caste. If you want superpower status caste has to go - if it doesn't the China-Pakistan axis may balkanize India

sv.
Prime Minister Modi thinks climate change is just a feeling you get sometimes but doesn't happen in reality.
@SK 'caste is hinduism and hinduism is caste' - TRUE. But lot of supporters of the guna-based system but most don't know how it works. It has no practical use.

S K
6:37 PM
@sv. Are the people here such as the most prolific poster (whatever has happene dto him lately) serious? And why is th eruling clique vehemently in favor of Hare Krishnas

sv.
@SK Re: Hare Krishnas, whether they consider themselves Hindu or not, their 'scriptures' have always been allowed on this site as sources.
@SK The most you can do is, downvote their posts....so I'd say ignore those questions. Like how I ignore all 'miracle' and 'mantra' questions.

S K
@sv. These are white neo-christians who want to insert their hysteria and hysnosis form of religion. Just because they are nominal vishnuists, home-grown vishnuists feel camaraderie for them. They are a deadly threat and Hindu visnuists may become Mir Jafars

sv.
@SK What do you think of Swaminarayan sect, they are going about building marble temples everywhere as a tourist spot.

S K
6:53 PM
@sv. Its just a gujarati business networking group
@sv. how about "brahmastra" and all being real? what IS with these people? are they pretending to believe

sv.
@SK Yes, I think they are pretending. Reason being, once you come out and say it's 'imagination of Valmiki or Vyasa' they have to accept everything else is also their imagination.
Even with Mahabharata, no single person could've written 100,000 verses in a lifetime. But people quote it on this site as if they have personal knowledge of the actual events.

S K
@sv. So if you don't believe Arjuna severed Jayadrarha's head and made the arrow fly with it all the way to Jayadratha's father's lap - POOF goes all of "birdie num num" Hinduism?

sv.
@SK Same with the Vedas and it's apaurusheya (no human author) nature - you have to sing over & over to establish their supremacy.
@SK Yes, next thing one will say is Krishna's Sudarshana Chakra is not special .. it must be a simple device and someone overlay supernatural powers on it.
So they have to defend, Brahmastra, Varunastra, all the chakras, etc. as real.

S K
@sv. Have you notice how hostile the core group here is to Devdutt Pattanaik, Sri-Sri, Jaggi Vasudev et al who are trying to modernize Hinduism

sv.
@SK Yes. I flagged a comment posted to defame DP and it received like 9 downvotes. Mod defended his flag decline.
Same with BORI scholars. Lot of badmouthing going on this site -- promoted by mods secretly.
I can understand the hatred towards BORI .. because research sometimes reveals undesired things. You can no longer hold on to your cherished beliefs.

S K
7:08 PM
@sv. thank goddness average hindus are totally ignorant of "scripture"

sv.
One of the mod secretly wishes India and the whole world will be ruled by Vishnu, as the King, the dictator...

S K
@sv. By the way Aryan Migration is true - you maty have doubted it before - but now with nutrition, exercise etc - light skinned NorthIndians look indistinguishable from Caucasians
@sv. Thats HILARIOUS. I have baited him into admitting so many outrageous things

sv.
@SK He may have thought if he throws out all opposition, there will be no one left to comment, upvote, etc. :)

Q: Do any Acharyas support a return to Hindu monarchy?

Keshav SrinivasanThroughout most of its history, the system of government in India was Vedic monarchy (the claims of P.C. Dharma notwithstanding). But in modern times, India has turned into a democracy. My question is, are there any Acharyas living today who support a return to monarchy? Have the heads of any ...

S K
@sv. Nirad Chowdury correctly says the cow is sacred because it it white and was brought in by the incmoing aryans from central Asia. Thats why race-based caste is the very fabrc of Hinduism

sv.
@SK ^^^ I'm not too sure which interpretation is right re: Aryan Migration. But I don't have a problem facing the truth. I don't have any agenda.
@SK But this new Out of India theory seems to be a new agenda based theory to show how Indians have always been superior.
Then there is the Out of Africa theory which is the mother of all.

S K
7:19 PM
@sv. What clinched it is teh gradual SouthIndian/Bengali-ization of the simple brutish tales of the Rig Veda
@sv. The story-telling form of Hinduism is purely SouthIndian ?Bengali

sv.
@SK oh ok

S K
@sv. Have you noticed one obscurantist briefly went insane?

sv.
@SK Lot of obscurantists here. Not sure which one.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury welcome to rationalists forum :)
what do you think of this video ..

@sv. haha thanks :)
Oh, I'll watch it

sv.
your favorite swami is saying aliens have been visiting earth for vacation since long ..

@sv. lol my fav?

sv.
@SK yeah noticed it .. luckily we have a balanced mod team. at least they want us to think so.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury sarcasm :)

@sv. Well, what's your opinion on Nitya?

sv.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury yet another fake guru.

@sv. seems most people think so
Have you heard of Rajiv Malhotra?

S K
7:34 PM
@sv. Have you observed they studiously look the other way when asked how a dead body can be preserved for centuries without embalmment?

sv.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Yeah, I don't know what's the deal with him. He's always trying to expose Devdutt Pattanaik.

@sv. Don't tell me you like Pattanaik lol 😁

sv.
He even interviewed Nithyananda .. in wake of this Alien vacation theory he should clarify his opinion of Nithyananda now. real or fake.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury I like the fact that he's writing his own reinterpretations of Hindu scripture for the new age. Because the old interpretations are outdated and no one takes them seriously now.

@sv. Well have you read his "My Gita"?

sv.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Bought it. Yet to read.

7:39 PM
@sv. Read and tell me what you think of it.

S K
practically no hindu reads the gita - but pretends to rever it

@sv. So far, I haven't got any positive reviews of that book.

sv.
@SK True, they even think it's Vyasa's own words or Krishna's .. a lot of people take it literally. And that's a real danger.

@SK Gita is not easy to understand. Personally I don't understand anything in the last 7 chapters.

S K
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury for all teh efforts of obscurantists Hinduism will be freed from Sanskrit

sv.
7:42 PM
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury It's all theory. Commentaries try to explain those theories. No one questions the correctness of these theories.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Do you think levitation is possible via yoga? Curing cancer, any disease etc.?

@sv. Yeah, like me lol.
@sv. um, I can't say...

sv.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Ok, so you think it's possible or there's no way of knowing?

@SK Sanskrit needs to be revived. Its still not dead.

sv.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Do you think yajnas can bring rain?

@sv. I have no idea.

S K
7:44 PM
@sv. and that fake phony and fraud deepak chopra - he makes me cringe so much

@sv. I am skeptical of yajnas these days

sv.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Ok, but yajnas of past did yield rain? Like they used to say, there's a certain 'raaga' that can produce a shower. You believe those?

S K
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury not a chance. after Rig veda sanskrit has become utterly mediocre. Large numbers of Tamil nadu temples do worship in Tamil - to howls of protests from tambrahms

@SK Are you from Tamil Nadu?
I wish I knew Sanskrit 😢

sv.
7:48 PM
@SK Yeah, Deepak Chopra is a big fraud. He and Jaggi Vasudev have teamed up I think to confuse the Hindus.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Your friend Anurag seems to be an expert in Sanskrit?

@sv. lol idk him

sv.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Oh, I thought you two are school friends :)

Btw @sv. I have heard you're an atheist. Is that true?

S K
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury You and the so called Ahubhav Jha puzzle - your level of Vishnuist bigotry is ONLY dispalyed by Iyengar types. whats going on ?

sv.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Yeah, a Hindu atheist, whatever that means :P

7:51 PM
@sv. The only friends I know here personally are Narayanan Sharma & Arkaprabha Majumdar.

sv.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury But I started this chatroom way back .. I was very skeptical to begin with. I used to think Brahmastras were real.

@SK First of all, I'm sorry for having speculating your Quora a/c. And second, we have differences in opinion what defines bigotry. So I better not want to argue.

sv.

Q: How do I prove casteism is not an inherent part of Hinduism?

XlamI understand Bhagavad gita says varna is by profession and not by birth. But how should I explain it to a non-hindu or an atheist who is too ignorant to read hindu books and argues that casteism is an inherent part of Hinduism and in order to end it Hinduism must be eradicated.

@sv. I'm skeptical of those weapons too

sv.
Will post an answer to that ^^ ... watch out. This guy is calling me an ignorant :)
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Why aren't you skeptical of levitation/astrology/other such things in Hinduism?

S K
7:55 PM
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury apology accepted. But your pal Anubhav like to cite a vishnuist blog called Narayanastra which displays embarrassing levels of hate. That makes perfect sense for South Indian Iyengar types - what has attracted you and anubhav to this form of Hinduism

@sv. I'm skeptical of astrology but I don't have comments on levitation and others.
@SK Seems everyone wants to prevent me from being a Sri Vaishnava :P
Well, IMHO, the only Vaishnava bigots I see are the Madhwas. But then again, we have different definitions of bigotry. @SK

sv.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury I believe in "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" -- so I may not like what you write, but will support your right to ask.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Ok, research a little more. I don't it's possible. Yoga is good for health but beyond that no supernatural powers.

@sv. Well, I have no intentions of flarring up sectarianism here. I simply want to study how other sects' interpretations differ from each other.

@sv. lol I'm sure this isn't legit

sv.
8:02 PM
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Yes. I don't think the way you frame your questions is sectarian. I like your style. As long as you don't try to prove "Vishnu is supreme" - you're safe.

S K
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury sorry - your Vishnuism shows almost every post. Which is so sad give you have atheism/advaita/kali worship to choose from

@SK I'm an Advaitin.

sv.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury What is legit levitation? Research and tell me if there's such a thing.

@sv. Yeah but I guess people are bound to misunderstand me.
I find this Nitya video quite funny lol

sv.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Yes. It happens.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Under all his videos .. one lady disciple "Ma Nithya Swarupapriyananda" leaves a comment backing him.

S K
8:06 PM
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Good. May be its your youth - but you need to understand that you can't place a natural interpretation of something (say, mahanrutunjaya mantra) and totally contrived vishnuist argument (narasimha in rig veda) on the two pans of a scale and pretend to be neutral between them.

@sv. What do you think of the scandalous video of Nitya?

sv.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury don't think I watched those videos .. my interest is his science-related claims.

@SK I was simply looking for substance in the Vaishnavite argument but so far, I haven't found anything in their favour.
And btw @SK I would appreciate if you stop treating iskcon to be representing all of Gaudiya Vaishnavism.

sv.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury agree :)

@sv. So can you be considered a Charvaka?

sv.
8:10 PM
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury What do you think of Chaitanya .. he passed pretty bad remarks on Muslims because they eat beef.

S K
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury NONE of you have a clue whats going to happen. the white people of ISKCON don't give a hoot about Krishna - they are looking to reconquer India, intellectually thi stime

If you wanna study about Gaudiya Vaishnavism, I suggest checking out Jiva Institute @SK
@SK I don't support iskcon.
@sv. He's the very reason I came into Hinduism.

S K
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury I think liberation ,if at all, can be achieved only through advaitic methods which is more or less Buddhism

sv.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Yes being a skeptic I like their philosophy.

@SK You don't believe attaining Vaikuntha and Kailasa is moksha?

S K
8:14 PM
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury everything else in Hinduism except advaita is tamasha. Rig Vedic sanskrit, while expressing primitve ideas, is beautiful

iskcon and gaudiya math simply compete each other. Their main purpose isnt to spread Mahaprabhu's teaching but compete with each other. @sv.

S K
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury so you are an advatic gaudiya vaishnav

@SK Not actually. I actually want to reconcile Vaishnavism with Advaita

sv.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury “Since you Muslims cannot bring killed cows back to life, you are responsible for killing them. Therefore you are going to hell; there is no way for your deliverance." - how can a saint make statements like this?

@sv. I'm pretty sure that isn't a direct quote of Mahaprabhu. None of the statements in the Chaitanya Charitamrita are directly from Mahaprabhu's mouth.

S K
8:18 PM
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury I don't see how that is possible - one believes in nirguna brahman - the other in the chappie with shankha, chakra and Gada

sv.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Ok

@SK Read about Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa.

sv.
Tell me why is cow sacred according to you @SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury
It is said so in scriptures or is there an underlying reason?

@sv. TBH, I haven't got a clear cut reason why cows are sacred.
And oh btw, @SK you should study about Varkaris and Saint Dhyaneshwar. He was a Vaishnava as well as Advaitin.

sv.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury I think it's more to do with economics. Cows were slaughtered regularly. Then it became out of fashion at some point. No one knows why.

8:23 PM
@sv. Swami Vivekananda says so too. But I'm not gonna take beef lol.

sv.
Maybe because of their association with Krishna it became sacred.

Its taboo to me.

sv.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury I heard beef is served in Bengali restaurants?

S K
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Sorry - to me Vishnu is synonymous with Aryan genocide of tribals - I can understand having a perosnal ishta devata and still being advaitic - the teachings o f the Southern vishnuist so-called achrayas fill me with loathing.

@SK That's fine. I'm not forcing you to change your beliefs.
But then you shouldn't think all Vaishnava sects to be same. Vaishnavism has produced many great saints such as Dhyaneshwar, Tulsidas and Swaminarayan. (All of them had high respect for Shiva).
@sv. Yeah, that's true.
Bengalis are obsessed with nonvegetarianism (which I strictly oppose).

S K
8:30 PM
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury You should see some stuff Southern Vishnuists have put out there on the net - that too in the 21st century. One of their Luminaries is Vedanta Desikan who couldn't stomch their beloved Vishnu not being the main deity at the magnificent Chidambaram Nataraja temple - so apparently he writes a poem that their god is reclining and Siva is dancing - so YOU decide who is teh sbahnayaka - You won't believe the hatred thats out there from these people
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury but the vishnuist core at this site is Iyengar types

@SK I don't have much idea about the South...I do know, sectarianism is much more prevalent there...in the North, I guess people are more liberal. Anyway, I don't subscribe to Vedanta Desikan's views.
What do you think of Madhwas? @SK

S K
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Madhwas are worse but they are disappearing
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury which is why you and anubhav Jha surprise me - some things I see from you two, especially Anubhav is hardcore Iyengar lore

@SK I don't like them either...no offense to any Madhwas here but Madhvacharya is my least favourite acharya. And calling Shankara a demon is too much.
@SK Neither of us are iyengars but we are interested in studying the principles of Sri Vaishnavism.

S K
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Ramanuja has insulted Sankara also - but anubhav has gone to Ph.D before elementary school - "there are no proper names in sankkirt - there for Rudra is Vishnu if we want, Siva i sVishnu if we want - everything is good comes from vishnu, no matter which God is the front man at any rate vishnu is everybody's antaryaami"

@SK That is where I differ from you. I know it sounds bad to non-Vaishnavas about the antaryami part and that's why I don't blame them. At the same time, I don't find the antaryami concept offensive. As far as Ramanuja insulting Shankara comes, I haven't found anywhere Ramanuja making personal remarks on Shankara.
If you have heard of Ramanandi Vaishnavas in the North, you'll find them way more liberal than Southern Sri Vaishnavas even though they too follow Ramanuja and Vishishtadvaita. @SK
Tulsidas was a Vishishtadvaitin and Ramanandi. And he has praised Shiva a lot in his Ramcharitmanas.

S K
8:45 PM
It is disputed whether Ramanandi had anything to do with Ramanuja; when I posted something the controlling clique deleted it

@SK oh well I have seen some acharyas in their sect saying Ramanuja to be Lakshmana.
Anyway, good night to you. I have to attend school tmr. Bye :)

S K
bye

Jai Sriman Narayana!

S K
wretch :-)

sv.
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury Good night! Bye.
