@sv. the woman's accent is like sandpaper
@sv. possible - there is a reason for all the fabulous creatures in indian mythology the same way elves and goblins are now understood to be real people

sv.
@SK Neanderthals who are experts in Vedas wearing yajnopaveetam??!!

S K
@sv. The core turth is people who looked like monkeys to the Aryans

sv.
@SK the woman is calling science 'crap' - i don't get it. she uses technology (youtube) to debunk science and advancement. she says 'science keeps changing' as if that's an argument.
@SK where did these people go? where're the descendants? they all died jumping in Sarayu river with Rama :)

S K
@sv. elves gobline fairies pixies et al have been given scientific explanations IIRC

@SK oh ok .. most people think these vanaras are tribals / aboriginals living in the forest like the Jarawas of Andaman & Nicobar islands.
The Jarawas (also Järawa, Jarwa) (Jarawa: Aong, pronounced [əŋ]) are an indigenous people of the Andaman Islands in India. They live in parts of South Andaman and Middle Andaman Islands, and their present numbers are estimated at between 250–400 individuals. They have largely shunned interaction with outsiders, and many particulars of their society, culture and traditions are poorly understood. The Jarawas are recognised as an Adivasi group in India. Along with other indigenous Andamanese peoples, they have inhabited the islands for at least several thousand years, and most likely a great deal...

@sv. I know this from a direct field experiment - north indian mastaans at a soccer game called a player from Chota Nagpur "hanuman"
@sv. Have you noticed some scurrilous material from our sectarian frields lately

sv.
@SK :)

S K
@sv. are these guys serious?

sv.
@SK Yeah, I don't mind. But what I don't like is the double standards. Mods advise to keep away from Shiva-Vishnu debate. But they use loopholes in the system to ask what they want.

S K
@sv. He was dormant for a while and came back with some nasty, nasty stuff. The site will never graduate with this kind of nonsense

sv.
9:35 PM
@SK Did you notice the comments against Western scholars ? They are promoting hatred towards almost anything that is not Indian or Hindu.

Q: When is it acceptable to caution the reader of disputes as to the origin of a text or passage?

TezzThis question starts was prompted by a note of caution given by user Keshav Srinivasan which reads: One note of caution: it's believed that the Linga Purana contains a lot of interpolations, because other ancient works which quote the Linga Purana quote things that are not in the actual text ...

S K
@sv. Its all a pattern - Rajiv Malhotra and so forth. There is big money involved - Hare Krishna inspired Vishnuist "scholarship".
@sv. The youngsters have discovered affluence, mobility, privacy - and the genie will never go back into the bottle. Your urban Indian younster i sjust bourgeoi seeking pleasure and the VEda and all mean NOTHING - NOTHING WHATSOEVER to youngsters

sv.
@SK There are many fans of Rajiv Malhotra on this site too. They keep badmouthing Pattanaik freely in comments. Mods secretly sponsor this activity too. Funny, they want to graduate with all this bashing.

S K
@sv. Whenever there is a real or perceived crisis it is "back to the Vedas"

sv.
@SK Agree.
@SK Yup. 'back to Vedic lifestyle', yoga and all, live in the forest, not sure who will run the nation and feed these people.

S K
@sv. the devdatt patnaik wing and hindutvas are going to have a clah
@sv. This site will not graduate because the inner clique is in control but they are boring and cannot generate good content (after how much sectarian trivia can the site tolerate?) . They'll drive away creative posters and the site will die

sv.
9:54 PM
@SK I think it won't die .. it will remain forever in beta. Christianity.SE has lot of high-rep users who post quality answers. The problem with this site is lot of newbie users post questions that are too boring, too repetitive...

S K
@sv. I disagree - all you need is a few people - tezz, rickross, you and so forth and we can all have a great time - but the clique will not tolerate that
@sv. the people who control the site want people who say for real or in pretense that they yearn for the "effulgence of the lord's lotus feet" - but that kind of Hinduism is moribund
