@Zaid - I'm here

Just give me a moment so I can upload the PS pump
Picture, that is
There's a hard line at the back of the pump
How will I get the pump out of the way?

Does the hard line go down to the steering rack?

Yes
Actually, it goes to the PS fluid cooler

The cooler is where?
and is it hard line all the way to the cooler?

In front of the radiator

1:40 PM
You are talking about the hard line at the back of the pump which goes downward?

Yes
It's a hard line all the way

Disconnect the hard line from the back of the pump. You might get a little bit of leakage from it, but it should be fairly minimal.
I don't see how it can be hard line all the way. It needs some give somewhere or you'll have stress riser problems which will cause cracks in the line.
That's really strange.

I can check again but I'm fairly certain it's hard all the way

Anyway, disconnect it from the pump. You'll want to remove as much of the front accessories as possible. This will make pulling it from the car that much easier (more room to maneuver).

You can see the two lines in the picture of the hard coolant pipe

Really, I'm not doubting you at all. You are there looking at the stupid thing ... it's just why would they do that. It seems like a great way for a leak to form.

It does strike me as odd as well

Even though the engine sits on motor mounts, there's still movement between the engine and the body/frame of the car. I'm wondering how they allowed for the movement in the hardline.

It does flex, I'm just afraid that if I move the pump too much it will damage the line
It flexes because of its length, not because it's soft, lol
I'll go ahead and disconnect it

Yah, so disconnect it from the pump. You may have to tweak it out of the way a bit when removing the engine. Just one of those things to look out for. Strap a rag around the end of it so you don't get that nasty fine dust into the system.

Yes, I have a few torn nitrile gloves that can be repurposed

1:49 PM
Actually, that's a great way to go. That and a rubber band or a zip tie.
Haha, you just gave me a reason to keep my torn nitrile gloves around.

I have a few more minutes of precious sunlight
Let me disconnect that line

LOL! Better get out there and Get 'er Done!

Thanks for your help

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 your hunch was right, there is some rubber section on the way to the cooler. It's so grey with dust that I couldn't tell the difference at first.

ROFL! Well, thats something!
I was looking at used cars and think I can get a used LS1 Camaro for a relatively decent price ... I'll probably try and get one of them.
I found one which doesn't have a title (seller says it is salvage title eligible). Car has 24k miles on it, is a 6-sp with T-tops. He wants $2400 ... almost seems too good to be true (which it probably is).
Says it runs/drives great. I'd like to find out why it has a salvage title ...
Actually, it's $2600 in the ad, but "negotiable" ... Would be a great base car even with a salvage title, depending on why it has that type of title.
Well, I'm off to the races. I've got to get my Saturday morning happening (besides looking at cars and paying bills).
