@euclid since $n$ is a fixed, $\{\chi:\chi(n)^d=1\}$ may not be the same thing as $\{\chi:\chi^d=1\}$.

@arctictern i still dont know $\{\chi:\chi^d=1\}$ is a group(abelian or cyclic) unconditionally or not.

@euclid (a) I've told you it is many times. (b) If you know what a group is, you should be able to prove it's a group rather easily. This is very worrying. Like I said, you should study basics before you try to read papers.
