... Hi @MazenBesher
Mazen Besher
Wie geht es Ihnen? @Takkat
Takkat
standard answer:
Danke, gut, und dir?
Mazen Besher
mir geht es gut, danke
Takkat
Wir duzen uns alle hier:
meta.german.stackexchange.com/questions/36/…
Was führt dich hierher in den Chat?
Mazen Besher
I don't know... Can I speak in ein bisschen englisch
Takkat
19:59
Yeah both German, and English are fine here
Mazen Besher
Thanks
I have a simple question in german
Takkat
Schiess los!
Mazen Besher
in this sentence: "Es tut mir leid, dass Ich dich nicht angerufen habe"
shouldn't we put habe after ich?
Takkat
no - the sentence is fine - but "ich" is lower case.
Dich
used to be upper case but it has changed in the reformed spelling.
Mazen Besher
my mistake ... sorry
but my question about the verb "habe" position
why we put in the last
Takkat
20:03
Its put to the end in a relative or subordinate clause.
In nested sentences it therefore helps to see what verb is at the end.
Mazen Besher
Oky that's better ...thanks, I have another simple question if you have time
Takkat
Grammar is
never
simple.
at least not to me.
Mazen Besher
Ya especially in german
Takkat
Grammar is like juggling with 20 balls too many
120% chance to get the rule wrong.
Mazen Besher
hahaha :)
It's Really Quite HARD
Takkat
20:07
Its hell.
Trust your feeling!
I do.
Mazen Besher
my second month here in Germany and if I want to say anything I have to take a moment just to check the rules
grammer
the sentence structure is so flexible
Takkat
You should ignore it then - just say whatever you need to (and think about it later).
Mazen Besher
make me CRAY --- Akkusativ, Dativ....:(
Takkat
Most Germans will not be able to tell you the rules even if they speak correctly.
Mazen Besher
When I ask my teacher most of the time, he say the sentence again in his mind to make sure that it's correct!!
Takkat
20:15
Oft sind die Regeln so kompliziert, dass niemand sie aufschreiben kann. Es gibt nicht umsonst ganze Grammatik-Bibliotheken ;)
canoo.net
ist eine gute Seite.

ich mag
dict.leo.org
auch ganz gern, die haben auch Links zu sehr guten Audio Dateien.
Mazen Besher
Das ist sehr gut....
aber ich brauche eine Website (to explain) deutschen wörter in englisch
like google dictionary extension for Chrome .... hope you know it
Takkat
thefreedictionary.com
is quite concise
Mazen Besher
das ist interessant ... danke

in dieser Satz: "Glaubst du mir meine Geschichte nicht?", can I exclude "mir" and but "meine Geschichte" in Dativ?
Takkat
Yeah - if you leave out the
mir
the meaning is slightly shifted to the unbelievable story (rather than the person telling it).
Mazen Besher
Ach so....Vielen Danke ...Dativ still very confusing for me.
Takkat
Its probably colloquial. See
"Glaubst du meiner Erzählung nicht?"
<-- clearly dative
So
"glaubst du meine Geschichte"
is short for
"glaubst du an meine Geschichte"
both accusative
Colloquiality confuses me because there was a considerable shift in what used to be colloquial has now become standard.
Mazen Besher
Although I think I understand it....but my head still hurts
Takkat
Whenever the head hurts it is a good indicator of it being a candidate for a question on the site ;)
