Is it just me or are a lot of the dos questions that where asked today able to be answered with the same answer?

yah, I find the questions about timing of saying dos and the intent to be especially interesting.

sort of surprised the rules don't call out penalties for calling it when it is not the case

Oh, swear there was a penalty for false Uno/Dos calls. When I play it, we do that as eating two yourself but that might be house-rules

Also, I definitely brought MtG habits to the casual table with a lot more asking of "Cards in hand?"

When l looked through the rules I could find online I didn't see anything about penalties for false calls

I guess not then [Shrug]

but then again the groups I played uno with also would accept calling uno before you actually played the card so we didn't have to deal with people shouting it as soon as the card hit the pile

since we saw it more of as a way to keep others informed about you being able to go out soon

Think we had it as you had until you drew your hand fully back to call it.
