My child is greatly interested in a pokemon cartoon and I think she'd really enjoy the cards. I'm having trouble finding a starter pack that can be used out of the box the play the game. I don't know anything about how to play. Any direction would be helpful. Or should I ask on the main site?
Thanks

Q: Best way to get into Pokemon?

ValienSo I'd like to introduce my son to a basic card game like Pokemon since he loves the creatures, etc. When I go to a store and look at all the 'starter' decks, and packs, etc I'm a little confused. What's the best way to buy and start into the game with him? Just buy a basic starter kit at the st...

This helps
She's 7, but quite smart for her age. Is that too young to play the game? Will she get it?

Sorry, I don't know the answer to this question, and this chat room is often pretty quiet, so it's possible that nobody else will be here for a while

@fredsbend I haven't played it myself but I believe it's targeted at relatively young (preteen) children, among others, so I'd guess there's a decent chance an average 7-year old would be fine with it.
FWIW that there are children of that age who play Magic, which is a more complicated game.

Careful about getting her into Magic, first it is Mono-Red burn and next thing you know she is playing Lantern Control and asking to borrow a couple hundred $$ to pickup Lion's Eye Diamonds for a Legacy Dredge Deck
It is a slippery Slope

@fredsbend I haven't played pokemon before but from what I understand 7 shouldn't be to young to start playing. As for a starter pack I would try and search your area to see if there are any game stores that would be able to provide some advice on purchasing starter packs
And as was said this chat can be quiet for a while but the people that do join are more then willing to help as they can
