@murgatroid99 hmmm, I wonder how hard it would be to bring in a wish card to silver boarder limited....
were they ever restricted?
Looks like Burning wish was previously restricted in Legacy

"banned". Nothing was ever restricted in Legacy
Also, apparently all of the wishes were previously banned in Commander

I saw that in the comments as well
is there anyway to make a scrolling box in an answer?

I don't think so

dang

2:56 PM
@Malco I'm going to try something okay? Feel free to revert it if you don't like it.

if you hold a sec I am adding card links
should be done in a min or two

Oh dang
I already submitted
Well, you have scrollbars. It's an abuse of code blocks I think, but it kind of works

actually I abandoned my edit
the code blocks won't allow the mtg short cut methinks
code blocks make it readable thoug
thanks

No problem. Sorry for steamrolling through like that

Not a problem, I asked for it in the comments :P
All those cards don't need to be clickable anyway, the list is a handy reference though

3:35 PM
If we'd prefer card links over code blocks, I can use a text processor of mine to fairly quickly add card links.

You know, the comments on that Reddit post pointed out that the list is incomplete. Did you expand it with the information from the comments?
Also, I am very uncertain about this use of code blocks for non-code information

@murgatroid99 it considerably reduces accessibility of the list

@doppelspooker Yes, that. "Code" does not correctly describe the semantics of the content here, and that can affect stuff like screen readers or other less common kinds of browsers

Questions of formatting and comprehensiveness aside: awesome answer, great job

You know he just copied and pasted a list, right?
I'm not trying to be mean, but I feel uneasy about an answer that consists entirely of content someone else put together

3:52 PM
I added a bit of stuff in addition to the copy paste, but it was mostly direct
added the wish cards that we mentioned, along with integrating the edit on the original Reddit post into the list
didn't get a chance to gothrough the reddit comments yet as I had to run to a meeting
I agree that code should be avoided for non code uses, but I am not sure how to resolve the problem of the answer just being massively long

Sometimes, answers are just long

I can open the answer up to wiki since you guys seems to be contributing a lot to it?

Don't use Community Wiki
Just in general, don't use it

@Malco We can just contribute to it whilst it's still your answer
Community wiki started out with an idea of "we all get to share" but wound up in practice as "NOBODY gets a reward!!!"

Personally, I don't really think it's necessary to have a giant list of every card that is or ever has been banned.

3:56 PM
ahh ok, not sure what situation's community wiki is useful/intended for
if the consensus is it is not useful then I just won't use it

@Malco nowadays: nothing

kk

They talk a bit about why it was a bad decision here in this blog post‌, and mention it's just a thing you can use if/when it's useful for certain purposes -- but it's hardly a prerequisite for those purposes, since e.g. people are happy to maintain canonical answers and lists even if it isn't community wiki.
those of us with substantial reputation usually just don't even bat an eyelid that someone else might be getting some +10's over what we're adding.

I suppose it is a drop in the bucket for you guys

I think the one possible value of community wiki is making people less worried about preserving author intent when editing other people's answers
But the answers that need the most upkeep are generally ones where information changes frequently, and in those cases preserving author intent isn't really a problem anyway
Also, I just rolled back that edit with the code blocks. I think it's better to have an overly long answer than one with incorrect semantics and accessibility problems

4:05 PM
ok, I am in the process of adding in the missed cards

We're finally getting Agents of S.N.E.A.K. UST spoilers

Making a note here, find/replace regex pattern to identify all cards in that list so as to replace them with card links later when that edit's done: (?<=^ - )[\w \-']+(?=( \([\w \-]+\))?$)
@murgatroid99 this is beautiful
... I've been looking for a Dimir hero to use as a commander, and I might have just found it.
@murgatroid99 i love that we can't see the ninja in this picture. (because of course we couldn't.)

It's also a troll

which is also great

4:23 PM
@doppelspooker Ok cards have been added
there were a handful of cards forgotten including the pauper banlist

Did you get the "Previously banned in EDH" cards from the forum post linked in the original answer? The one that goes back to 2002?
I'm pretty sure I got that link from the comments on that reddit post

the previously banned from edh was merged from the edit in the orginal post
these cards:
Kokusho, the Evening Star
Crucible of Worlds
Protean Hulk
Grindstone
Staff of Domination
do you have the link to the forum post so I can merge in those cards and link in the source?

4:39 PM
cool card, but a bit expensive for the value I would be able to get out of it

@Malco well you'd at least be able to fix the top ten or twenty cards, and shift most lands among them to the bottom :)

maybe you could, I would take too long, mess up the order, and then have to shuffle anyways..... :/

One thing that "Previously Banned/Restricted Cards" section doesn't have is previously banned cards in Commander. There's a good forum post here that has a lot of that history — murgatroid99 ♦ Nov 15 at 19:14

@Malco i would probably have to be real quick and limit what i do. i can't rearrange my deck arbitrarily in ten seconds -- picking it up alone and putting it down again and taking my hands off will take 2-3 seconds -- but I have about five useful seconds to focus on cards near the top, which means I can at least sift out some useless junk from useful stuff.
What that all means is when I'm casting Hot Fix -- before I cast it -- I decide what I need in my deck in the next few turns. Is there a card or two I really need? Dig it out, put it on top, then stick with that. Alternately, do I need more lands? Which ones, when, and how many? Stick a couple near the top if necessary, remove ones near the top otherwise, etc. Just try to do one of these things, not all the deck-fixing.

4:58 PM
@murgatroid99 Thanks

Nice Un Commander spoiled, hope your opponents like vanilla....

6:30 PM
I'm sure you could assemble some fun combos with that

as well as mess with your opponents plans, particularly nice for neutering your opponents commanders

6:49 PM
I assume nothing happens if it targets itself

seems likely, you would just pay the cost, target your own Phoebe, and when it resolves it would remove the card text and replace it with the same text. the end result would be nothing happening but might be useful if you have "absorbed?" something like a Daru Spiritualist and something that made it a cleric

There must be a story behind the reminder text for this card.....

8:20 PM
The high five is a hand gesture that occurs when two people simultaneously raise one hand each, about head-high, and push, slide, or slap the flat of their palm against the flat palm of the other person. The gesture is often preceded verbally by a phrase like "Give me five", "High five", or "Up high." Its meaning varies with the context of use but can include as a greeting, congratulations, or celebration. There are many origin stories of the high five, but the two most documented candidates are Dusty Baker and Glenn Burke of the Los Angeles Dodgers professional baseball team on October 2, 1977...
See the "Variations" section
Also, this article is an interesting look at what anthropological writing about the current day might look like in a hundred years

hahaha very nice
So go around the table highfiving everyone who is playing, and then "too slow" your opponent

10:09 PM
hrmmmm this card dosen't say until end of turn either....
I wonder if it will be ruled the same as really epic punch
could just stack up triggers turn by turn before you actually roll something

Yeah, it looks like it. I like how the first ability can benefit from the second

@murgatroid99 and the second can benefit from the first!
@Malco i agree, it looks like it just stacks up extra d6's for whenever.

@doppelspooker Well, yes, of course. The card probably wouldn't work at all without that synergy

10:50 PM

@murgatroid99 this is fabulous
