@IsaacMoses For that very reason, Rabbi Yochanan Zweig used to say that Makkas Bechoros shows Hashem's power over time in that His striking the Egyptian firstborn at precisely midnight necessarily means that He created time then. He thus explains Rashi by Makkas Barad which makes reference to Makkas Bechoros, explaining that one represents His control over space (ice and fire intermingling) and the other time (as above).
As I mentioned previously, my grandfather was niftar last week. We're hoping to finish Shas Mishnayos for his Shloshim on Shabbos Zachor, 11 Adar, March 7. Can I ask for anyone from the community to volunteer to do a masechta?

@DonielF Would you like to tell us a little about your grandfather? I feel like it would be nice to have a story to think of along with his name.
@DonielF What does he mean by "created time"?

@IsaacMoses That night was longer than the usual 12 sha’os zemanios

@DonielF Oh, so God injected extra time into the period/instant called "Chatzot"?

@IsaacMoses Correct
@IsaacMoses Back in the day he owned a dry cleaning store in Greenwich Village. He had this one customer names Mrs. Cooper who was known throughout the area as being a persnickety customer. One day she came in to pick up her cleaning and she complained to him, “This isn’t right! Don’t you know how to press a skirt?”
“ Don’t worry, Mrs. Cooper, leave that with me for a couple of hours and I’ll fix it up for you.” After she left, he took the plastic off, put a new plastic on, and hung up the skirt. When she came back she took one look at it and said, “That’s great! Why didn’t you do it like that in the first place?”

@DonielF :) Thanks

One thing he excelled at was understanding what other people needed. In Mrs. Cooper’s case that was attention. In our case that was being a loving father and grandfather.
The Mishnah in Peah says that one who needs help yet refuses it will die from old age being the one to help others. I firmly believe that’s why my grandfather was zocheh to passing at 91, having been the first in generations to see great-grandchildren, and with very little pain, so that he could continue to help others all the way until the end.
Thank you Isaac for signing up for Machshirin. May your limud help prepare both you and my grandfather for a place in Gan Eden.
