@msh210 It's not about translating Chumash, it's about why Christian translators picked a particular translation. It's not about translating Chumash, it's about transliterating a name which happens to appear in Chumash. Does knowing why it's translated as Eve instead of Chavah enhance your ability to learn Chumash?

@DonielF Some people learn Chumash through English translations. The OP is also asking about "Jewish-sponsored translations". Whatever "technical or historical reason" for this translation choice, it theoretically might be something that helps the OP understand Chumash.
