I have heard that there is a minhag in ashkenazi communities to daven shacharit on the morning after yom hakippurim a bit earlier than the time that one would normally daven shacharit. Anyone have the source for that minhag?
The machzor (prayer book) that I used this Yom Kippur has this to say immediately before the morning Torah reading:
עֶס שְׁטֵייט גֶעשְׁרִיבֶּן װֶער עֶס לָאזט טְרֶערִין מִיט דֶעם גַאנְצֶן הַארְץ בְּשַׁעַת מֶען לֵייעֶנְט װִי דִי צְװֵיי זִיהְן פוּן אַהֲרֹן הַכֹּהֵן זֶענֶן גִשְׁטָארְבֶּן. אִיז עֶ...
Speaking of korbanot, I finished Tractate Zevachim before Yom Kippur, bringing us to 31 tractates complete. Next one B"H will bring us to a majority of tractates, while we're nearing two thirds of chapters complete.
@IsaacMoses Yashar Koach. And as I noted on Megila and Shabbat, they are also done, even if the person who "holds" the last chapter doesn't complete the learning, because I learned it as well. Moed Katan is another where someone holds a reservation for a long time - we could easily finish the tractate otherwise. You might need a mechanism to "unfreeze" a reservation after 30 days/3 months/whatever seems reasonable to you
@mbloch Baruch tihyeh! I'll keep making efforts to get the reservees to complete their assignments. My personal preference is to have as broad a base of participation as we can, including those who do a chapter here or there over a long period. When it gets to the point that a few stale reservations are getting close to standing between us and a siyum, it'll be time to seriously consider handing those over.
Speaking of thorny issues, Yeyasher Kochacha to @magicker72 on finishing Tractate Uktzim! That's 32 tractates complete out of 63, which puts us over the halfway mark for tractates!
I remember seeing a Tosafos in Ksubos a while back which states that when a man gets married, he should go to his in-laws for the chag that follows his wedding. Does anyone know exactly where I can find it?
Anyone know of keyboard stickers for trop ? Ideally this would also include ta'amei eme"s, but I could probably do the whole deal with custom keyboard stickers. The problem with that being that none of the ones on the market seem to have included templates
Moed katan (21b):
מתה אשתו ונשא אשה אחרת — אינו רשאי ליכנס לביתו לדבר עמו ]תנחומין, [כדי שלא לפגוע באשה החדשה.
