@mbloch I didn’t know where else to put this where it would ping you, so here we are. I’ve noticed that you’ve edited an awful lot of halachic sha’alos on here to get them into the review queue - maybe you’d like to share your thoughts on this meta post? judaism.meta.stackexchange.com/q/4774

are there Kotzker Rebbe books in english? (Kochav Hashachr, Amod Haemet)

Two interesting recent uses of our content in Twitter conversations about sensitive issues. I'm sharing them here for interest's/awareness' sake and not commenting on the stances taken by the Twitter users.
@littledreamer_ it was on a post about sitting shiva for non-jewish family members https://judaism.stackexchange.com/questions/28159/sitting-shiva-for-non-jewish-relatives ultimately suggested you would sit shiva for nonjewish family members but i think it does more to alleviate a convert's obligation to respect their non-jewish parents than to alienate them
A friend with a private account linked me to a "legal" argument about attending marriages outside the faith. Look how complex this is! Does anyone think you couldn't conduct a similar analysis to justify shunning LGBT people entirely...or anything else? https://judaism.stackexchange.com/questions/12713/intermarriage-attendance/85650#85650
Takeaway: Write on Mi Yodeya with the knowledge that the Torah you present and the way you present it will be used in discussions you don't know about in ways you can't anticipate. (I'm not suggesting that the authors of the linked posts did not demonstrate such awareness.)

@IsaacMoses Considering one of them has a nice bounty from you...

@Alex Ah, look at that. Nice. Note that the bounty came from me, but the choice came from The People.

5:31 PM
@IsaacMoses Ah. Though there was no indication on the post itself that it was a "Best Answer" bounty and not an "Isaac Moses" bounty.
I wonder if there are any Meta discussions about showing bounty reasons afterwards as well.

@Alex It should at least be available as rollover text IMO
@Alex (The way I figured it out was using my mod powers to see deleted comments.)

Q: If an answer receives a bounty, the bounty reason should be available alongside that answer

Michael KjörlingIf a bounty is offered on a question, the user offering the bounty is asked to select a reason for offering the bounty. This reason should be displayed or at least available alongside the answer that is ultimately awarded the bounty, if any such answer exists, just like it is displayed alongside...

@Alex Thanks. Also, linked and more popular: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/110003/…

@IsaacMoses But doesn't look like either was implemented.

@Alex Unfortunately
@Alex I placed a bounty on the latter. :)

@IsaacMoses Nice. Potentially ironic.

Hi, do we know approximately how many people visit this site daily?

@chachamNisan Yes. Current number is 4.5K "visits." Not sure exactly how that translates to number of people.

@DonielF How does the expression goes? Your desires are my orders? Probably not. But I will answer bn in the next hour
@DonielF actually I see that I had upvoted DoubleAA, Monica and your answers. Not sure I can add much. My view is that the motivation behind a question is less important than the current state of the question. If someone asks a personal question and I can help depersonalize enough to make it interesting, then it is worth it in my view
Someone else might have had the same request for psak and already depersonalized before posting. How can one tell the difference? Why would one answer the second and not the first?

== English == === Phrase === your wish is my command (often humorous) Whatever you say you wish for I will treat as a command and do straight away. ==== Translations... ====

6:53 PM
@alex that is it !

@mbloch vos désirs sont des ordres
You speak French, no?

@Alex I do and it is correct in French indeed - interesting since I wrote initially your desires are my orders which would be the literal translation :->
