@רבותמחשבות I don't think you need to delete your answer because I (and @DoubleAA AA) disagreed with it.

@Alex I had assumed that had you (or others) looked at the Mishna Berura, you would have agreed that he held it was a Chiyuv. That was essentially the gist of my answer.

@רבותמחשבות I had looked at the Mishnah Berurah, but that doesn't mean that your argument is without merit. Perhaps I was wrong in my assessment of the Mishnah Berurah.

Q: Inappropriate user images

LoewianWhat is MY's official policy regarding inappropriate images (such as pornography, gruesome/violent imagery) not just in the content of the question, but as the user photo (other potential examples: a swastika; an immodestly dressed person; etc.)?

@ezra I just see that there's a Wiktionary entry for CYLOR that was done by msh210. Does this term come from MY?

@Kazibácsi No. This search shows many usages on the internet that predate MY.
... I recommend against using this term, FTR
And while I'm at it, "TL;DR" as a header for a section of a post or essay strikes me as a juvenile and excessively jargony way of saying "Summary".

@IsaacMoses At least one should link something that explains the term...

@Kazibácsi that would be something, but still short of the section of our Jargon policy that starts "Don't use non-English terms gratuitously." Just say "consult your rabbi" like you're writing in English to someone you don't know.

@IsaacMoses hmmm. I had no idea you were against it and had never seen that particular meta dialogue. Created a shortcut for your proposed response and will try to use it going forward. Would merit more publicity as I'm sure others are also unaware

@IsaacMoses as I'm opening Murder in the Mikdash, I am reminded of another "fiction Moshiach book" which you might enjoy - it is a book describing what might happen in Israel as Moshiach arrives and the nations start preparing war against the Jews. Very real, very Tom Clancy like, and made me realize how miraculous events might look very normal on the surface....
Easy read, vacation book I'd even say, but I really liked it. Available on Kindle now amazon.com/Not-Just-Another-Scenario-2-ebook/dp/B004NIFW08

@mbloch thanks. I'm sure there are those who disagree with my opinion on that particular term. I would love to see, in general, wider-spread application of the Jargon Policy ethos of trying to make every post as readily readable as possible by as many of the English-speaking in the world who might be interested in it as possible. It can be tiresome to take the time to read your own writing and edit it from the point of view of someone with different background than yours, but it makes the
content so much more valuable to the world.

5:39 PM
@mbloch Thanks! I'll take a look.
