@RibbisRabbiAndMore sorry I was already off to bed when you wrote. You can also highlight the text (e.g., "here") and do Command-L or Control-L to add the link

Guys, do someone have at hand Artscroll's English Sanhedrin? I remember that there were older editions with the scanned Vilna (?) pages, and then they switched to Oz veHadar, which reinstated the censored parts. Does it mean that Artscroll revised the English text as well? (See on 107b רבי יהושע בן פרחיה וגו') (On HB site the PDF is uncensored while the text is censored)

@TrustMeI'mARabbi I did, but only a little too late to give the answer that Josh did... Do you share these answers with your Rabbeim? I'd be interested to know what they think about the Heilige Ramban's sources.
@Kazibácsi not now, sorry. I'll try to check later, when I'm at Shul.
@RibbisRabbiAndMore welcome, it's nice to see someone new interacting with everyone here. Keep up the good work!

@Kazibácsi sorry again, but Sanhedrin *** is missing.

3:31 PM
@רבותמחשבות I do sometimes.
Wacky questions are key

@רבותמחשבות Still, thank you very much indeed! AS sometimes sends wrong volumes if you order the whole set, do you have that problem? :-)

3:56 PM
@Kazibácsi I personally do not own any Artscroll Gemara volumes.
@TrustMeI'mARabbi and...? What do they think of it?

Let’s start with the painful truth:

Too many people experience Stack Overflow¹ as a hostile or elitist place, especially newer coders, women, people of color, and others in marginalized groups.

Our employees and community have cared about this for a long time, but we’ve struggled to talk about it publicly or to sufficiently prioritize it in recent years. And results matter more than intentions.

Now, that’s not because most Stack Overflow contributors are hostile jerks. The majority of them are generous and kind. Sure, a few are…  just generous, I guess? But our active users regularly express thei …

@DoubleAA Came here to post that link :)
> Let’s do something about comments. Condescension and sarcasm have been reluctantly tolerated in comments for too long. We’ll research possible feature changes, but let’s start by working with the community and our community managers to start flagging and deleting unkind comments now.
> Let’s stop judging users for not knowing things. (We’re a Q&A site!) ... Users aren’t “too lazy” to search; searching takes less work than posting.

> We’re planning to test a new “beginner” ask page that breaks the question box into multiple fields – one for each of the key things answerers need to help

Let’s reject the false dichotomy between quality and kindness. Quality matters because it means posts can help more people. But a larger, more diverse community produces better artifacts, not worse ones. We need to stop justifying condescension with the pursuit of quality,...

> Many people don’t realize that we already have a code of conduct (cuz we gave it a funny name).... But we need to show it to all users, and empower them to help us enforce it.
> This post focuses on Stack Overflow, but most of it applies to the broader Stack Exchange network as well.
(sorry for interrupting your quote dump @IsaacMoses)

@DoubleAA (Sorry for preempting yours)
@DoubleAA I think this would be a great deal more difficult to do right for MY

@IsaacMoses I don't know if it's that much more difficult but it definitely needs to be more specialized. In any event they probably won't get around to doing it here before >months of testing on SO.
It's a great idea though.
Not sure why they haven't done it already.

@DoubleAA "Like all companies, we have an infinite list of things to do, but limited resources."

@IsaacMoses It would take one dev an hour to get a basic page like that working.
He basically composed all the instructions already. Just add 4 separate text boxes, an opt-out link to the regular ask page, and make the newbie-ask-page the default for anyone under 500 rep.

You should read this whole thread, but I'm zeroing in on this one because I think it highlights a human tendency that is orthogonal to the original point, and nonetheless related: everyone thinks every industry is simple except theirs. https://twitter.com/RadioFreeTom/status/988112913092227074

@DoubleAA not a new suggestion: meta.stackexchange.com/q/278444/162102 meta.stackexchange.com/q/177469/162102 meta.stackexchange.com/q/231827/162102 meta.stackexchange.com/q/135769/162102 . It needs to be customizable per-site, which makes it harder than "just add these few lines of code". I hope it goes somewhere this time.
