It seems that the site calendar (upcoming events) does not include holidays such as Yom Haatzmaut and Yom Yerushalaim. Would it be possible to add them, so users can easily see posts about them at times like this?
Hi all - would it be fair game to ask for help in understanding this bit commentary from the Temimah Torah (on lamentations-eicha 3:21)? I get the flow (mostly!), and the connection to Psalms (especially), but I don't know the abbreviations (or ultimate source in this compilation).
@SmokeDetector we took this one down in 18 minutes :-> Looks like it only takes 3-4 people flagging as rude + downvoting by 1. This automatically deletes the spam (and FYI you get your -1 point back)
@Dɑvïd The body of Torah Temimah is mostly a compilation of older sources. The author's own commentary is relegated to footnotes. In this case he gives the source as שם (ibid), and the previous source was מ"ר (i.e. מדרש רבה), so you could try looking in Lamentations Rabbah
The wording is a little different, but I'm not sure if he was quoting from a different text or just paraphrasing
@ba Thanks so much - that's enormously helpful. I couldn't work out שם although I assumed that was indicating some kind of attribution. I'll have a look at Lamentations Rabbah. !תודה רבה
@ba And, just for the banter, there seems some distance between Salomon Buber's text and the text used in Sefaria.org -- but you can still see a family resemblance (especially the citation of Tehillim 119:92, which interests me). Thanks again. :)
There are currently 10 active bounties. I don't recall ever seeing more than that at one time (granted I've only been an active participant for about 5 months). Are there any records of (or does anyone remember) the most amount of simultaneous bounties?
