@YEZ Its wiki seems to indicate that it's basically for asking for peshat in the pesukim. I don't think Chazal's explanations thereof would be out of bounds. The actual contents of the tag may not be quite as narrowly circumscribed.
@IsaacMoses I know....I'll leave it up so that people can find the question if they search "al hamichya" (phrase not mentioned in other question AFAICT)
@IsaacMoses Right, but it feels a little strange that the thing that triggered it was going slower than the rabbi. It's not like that's an objective accomplishment
I've been working on improving my davening for a while
I was a major sufferer of the problem you describe, and to be honest, I have not completely cured myself of this; however, there are a few things that I have done recently that have made a huge difference in my level of focus during davening.
First of all, the times when I paid the least attenti...
@Daniel And learning that last daf doesn't make you that much more knowledgeable than the 174 that came before it. But milestones are there to give us a boost of inspiration.

OK. Gotta go daven Ma'ariv while I'm basking in your inspiration. It'll definitely be higher-quality than it would have been otherwise. Yeyasher kochacha!
@Daniel That is a really awesome answer, @Daniel. I’ve also been really serious about “mashiv haruach” this time because of the drought in CA. I’ve also been doing the thing that ArtScroll suggests about reading a verse of Torah at the end of the Amidah that starts and ends with the letters of your name, and mine is all about drought, so it’s doubly serious.
(would’ve posted that as a comment on the answer itself, but I gotta earn 14 more rep first.)

@ablaze Thanks! You might be interested in checking out the two previous projects in this series, for Pesach and Purim respectively, which you can find at s.tk/miyodeya.
@IsaacMoses I’ll look them both over carefully before I get started. I’m excited to contribute!
Open question: I’m looking for more blogs and podcasts to subscribe to. There are so many wishy washy “Jewish life” ones. I’m talking about Torah study ones. Halakha ones. Ones about the liturgy and the holidays. Media to help me keep learning while I’m washing dishes or sitting on the bus. Any suggestions? (This probably would be out-of-bounds as a Mi Yodeya question, yes?)
@IsaacMoses Oh, excellent! Seemed like it was maybe too subjective to ask “Please recommend some blogs and podcasts,” but I can be precise about what I’m looking for. I’m looking for drashot and shiurim, sermons, and scholarly essays, basically.
