The things I get away with in The Upper Room that I probably wouldn't get away with over here ....

@WAF I think you mean !!!! !!

@msh210 I think you mean ¡¡¡¡i¡¡ıı

@IsaacMoses Maybe I prefer my flames at the bottom of the candles?
@IsaacMoses What is that, anyway? I don't recognize the component pieces.

@msh210 That is more than 100 glow sticks arrayed on the ground in the form of a 4'-tall chanukiya by a mob of neighborhood kids.

@IsaacMoses Ah. Your neighborhood, or did you find the picture online?

7:41 PM
@IsaacMoses I see. Thanks.

@msh210 My immediate neighborhood (home of the highest concentration of chanukiyot in town).

@IsaacMoses In your city only? Or in your county as well?

@msh210 Probably just city.
@msh210 That would be awesome to behold. Maybe it could be done with sustained negative air pressure below them to counteract the tendency of the flames to rise.

@IsaacMoses Yeah, but too much would draw the flames toward the cause of the pressure.

@msh210 That's what engineering is for :)

7:48 PM
@IsaacMoses I'll leave it to you, then. :-)

@msh210 Internet seems to say that the main problem with upside-down candles is that they melt the wax off quickly, and it drips down and puts out the flame. I wonder if a device could be engineered to partially isolate the unburnt candle from the burning wick and allow just enough melting to provide fuel for the flame. Internet also seems to say that upside-down candles are a symbol in some sort of unsavory worship, so perhaps best avoided in chanukiyot.

@IsaacMoses To isolate the fuel, use liquid fuel in a container with a hole at the bottom only barely wide enough for the wick (thick fuel better than thin, perhaps). Maybe.
