@IsaacMoses What do you mean by "lechaim"?

@Dave Divrei beracha ending with a positive wish we can all drink to. "Lechaim!"

@IsaacMoses you mean we're just assuming everyone will have their favorite bottle of scotch at the ready?

@Dave lav davka Scotch, of course. Depending on timezone and predilection, people might opt for coffee or some other chmar medina

@IsaacMoses just saw that post as I was waiting for your reply, and then everything became clear.

@Dave I'm happy to be a source of clarity in the world

3:02 AM
@IsaacMoses the clarity level after the lechaim would probably depend on the type of mashkeh, though.

@Dave :)
@Dave So, will that fit with your plans?

@IsaacMoses you mean the topic of the dvar torah? I haven't really formulated it yet.

@Dave But do you think you can come up with something that can end on a note of cheerful blessing?

@IsaacMoses certainly!

@Dave Excellent. Yeyasher kochacha in advance.
OK; I gotta go cook for dreitentugyuntif
Shabbat Shalom and Chag Sameyach

3:08 AM
@IsaacMoses gut yontiff to you as well

Has anyone heard anything about a peacock-shechita somewhere in NY?

@IsaacMoses Does that mean "a three-day holiday" or "the third day of the holiday" (or something else)?
@Michoel welcome. :-)

Why did this new user call me "vram"?

@هه Ask him/her.
Good Shabas and yom tov, all.

6:44 AM
@هه @Vram I just noticed that myself. I hope he didn't upvote too many of my posts...
@هه @Vram The question is, why wouldn't he call you 'Vram'?

@DoubleAA google.com/…
@DoubleAA i expect him not to call me Vram because he created his account after Vram was obliterated

Q: Why is it so hard to delete your account?

asifahnik Possible Duplicate: Why can't I delete my account on my own? Once I have voted it seems very arduous to delete my account. Why can't this be done through a simple link/prompt?

I think the Asifah is getting to him.

@DoubleAA he created his account after the asifah so I find that hard to believe... How come I can't view the original question?

@هه @Vram Which original question?

@DoubleAA the one posted by the user himself- i just get redirected to stackoverflow to a question asked a year ago

6:56 AM
@هه @Vram You don't see:
?

@DoubleAA nope i get redirected to its dupe. Perhaps I'm not cool enough.
@DoubleAA perhaps its a reputation privilege im just unable to earn

@هه @Vram More likely because it doesn't seem you have an account there.

@DoubleAA indeed I do not
@DoubleAA why would someone create an account just to want it deleted 5 days later?

@msh210 The latter, I guess, though I was using it incorrectly to mean the former in context. My grandmother, A"H, used to say "Tzveiten Tug Yuntiff!" to register mild surprise (generically, not necessarily about the holiday calendar), or IIRC, sarcastic mild surprise - like "Oh, look, a second day of holiday! Sure wasn't expecting that!" Whenever there's a "three day Yom Tov," I tend to exclaim, in my head "Dreiten Tug Yuntiff!"

hi @IsaacMoses, for the smaller web ads the text won't fit, as you commented.
do you have any idea what text should go on the smaller ad images?
for a 8x11 pdf, i think all the text should fit just fine

3:23 PM
@هه - You can save characters if you use s/he for the personal pronoun.

Q: Why is there no badge for asking questions daily?

asifahnikI don't know how badges work and if/how one can be created but I am surprised there is no badge for asking a question every day for 'X' number of days. Is there any reason why not? If not, is there any interest in creating one?

4:48 PM
@IsaacMoses - What is your criteria regarding this?

Q: Round wait time (to be allowed to award a bounty) up

msh210I tried awarding a bounty within twenty-four hours after offering it, and was told "You may award your bounty in 2 hours.". In fact, though, more than 2 but less than 3 hours remained until I would be allowed to offer the bounty. Now, the site does this a lot, for example saying a chat event will...

@Jin does the shorter version that Isaac edited into the post (I think after you posted this) work?

Allow me to announce, just because eight people are here, a reminder that (a) anyone with sufficiently many reputation points can vote to close a question, (b) anyone with sufficiently many reputation points can vote to delete a post if its net votes are negative, and (c) the guidelines for what posts should be closed/deleted are in the faq.

@msh210 out of non-mods, only 23 people can vote to close, 10 people can vote to delete questions only three people can vote to delete answers.

@AdamMosheh Whichever answer I like best. Sourced answers tend to get precedence, as do ones that are most identifiably related to the numbers at hand

9:32 PM
@MonicaCellio He's now commented to that effect

@IsaacMoses just saw that, thanks -- figured I'd ask him in case you didn't get back here before Shabbat & Yom Tov, since I know you can't access chat during the day. Looking forward to seeing what Jin has waiting for us when we return.

9:49 PM
@MonicaCellio 'preciate it. Me too.
